Julie Quick, who holds the
title of Voter Education Coor

on hand at the monthly meet
ing of the Hardison Happy
Hearts on Tues., October 1.
Her mission was to teach
some, ahem, "older dogs new
tricks." arf arf!
After the several Florida
fiascoes and failures, the
seniors wanted to be pre
pared for the new technology,
the voting machine. A piece of
cake, was the general consen
sus following a brief demon
stration. Ms. Quick provided
expert advice and informative
handouts.
The group met in the Fel
lowship Hall of Hardison
Baptist Church. Pres. Eva
Knowles welcomed all and
thanked the hostesses for

CHICKEN BROCCOLI
BAKE
1 bunch broccoli
1 can cream of mushroom
soup
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
1 can sliced water chestnuts,
drained, coarsely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
2 Tbsps butter
1/2 sleeve butter-flavored

providing the colorful fall
table centerpieces. After Rev.
Rick Odum returned thanks,
;1 delicious carry-in lunch was
shared. A drawing for the
door prize was held after
wards with Mrs. Knowles,
who was celebrating a birth
day, being the recipient. In
addition, she was presented a
gift, from the club. Asked her
age, she tongue in cheek,
replied, “As old as my tongue
and a bit older than my
teeth!" NufTsaid.
Ms. Quick then demon
strated her miraculous voting
machine and several seniors
tried their hand. (I think
Betsy Ross was elected either
Pres, or first lady.) After
wards the group was "polar
ized" as Associate Pastor Rick
Polar provided his own
accompaniment on guitar and
harmonized together With the
Happy Hearts, on several
hymns. Later he was joined
by his father, Mr. Larry Polar,
and Rev. Odum as the trio
sang Hallelujah Square, Mrs.
Katie Polar provided piano
accompaniment. A delightful
program and sing-a-long!
A thoughtful devotional
was brought by Mrs. Ophelia
Higdon who observed that in
troubled times, comfort comes
in knowing that two vital
cream and water chestnuts S

Stir well.
Saute onion in 2 tablespoons
of butter or margarine until
