On the evening of Dec. 4, 2006, Megan’s countless friends and family were grimly reminded that life is as short as it is precious. Megan—known to have been an exceptional defensive driv¬ ing student—had just spoken via telephone with her mother, Denise Wiatrek, only minutes before the crash.
