CLCP/Uteracy Education
for Adults in Peach Inc.
Did you know that over 78
counties in Georgia are par¬
ticipating in Certified Literate
Communities (CLCPs)? Twenty
eight counties have already
achieved their goal of serving
50% of the population without
a high school or GED diploma
and are considered Certified
Literate Community Programs.
Peach County is now a Certified
Literate Community Program
but our work is not done. There
are still more than 30% of our
residents without a diploma.
Fifty counties are working hard
but have not served 50% of
their population yet and are
considered Certified Literate
Community Participants.
The Technical College
System of Georgia’s (TCSG)
mission is to have “a fully lit¬
erate Georgia.” Peach County
has stepped up to the plate and
continues to ensure that adult
education services are avail¬
able. Instructors from Middle
GA Technical College (MGTC)
conduct classes weekly in Fort
Valley and Byron. L.E.A.P.,
your business, government,
community nonprofit organiza¬
tion continues to promote litera¬
cy and recruit students for these
classes. Adult Basic Education
(ABE) and General Educational
Development (GED) prepa¬
ration are a few of the free
classes that are taught. The Fort
Valley Adult Education Center
