The annual H.A Hunt High
School Hospitality Dance will
be held Friday night, October
21,2011. The time is 8 0’ clock
at HECC (old gym on Spruce
Street). This year thedance is
sponsored by the classes of 1941
and *61. There is a donation
of $5.00 at the door, and all
huntonians and friends are
invited.

of the Year during the Adult
Education Fall 2011 Conference
in Atlanta. GA. Following close
behind was Mrs. Catherine
Volley (76 years old), who
received the EAGLE GED
Graduate of the Year award.

HUNT ELEMENTARY
HOLDS ANTI-VIOLENCE
WORKSHOP
Hunt Elementary School
fourth and fifth grade students
participated in the “Too Good
for Violence Curriculum" this
past quarter, The curriculum
was sponsored by HODAC of
Warner Robins, and was taught
by the Community Prevention
Specialist Mrs. Kim Robertson.
The “Too Good for Violence
Curriculum" is a character edu¬
cation curriculum which consists
of four interconnected strands:
conflict resolution, anger man¬
agement, respect for self and
others, and effective communi¬
cation. The curriculum has six
lessons including a pre-test and
post-test.
This is the first time Hunt
Elementary School has partnered
with HODAC of Warner Robins
to come teach the “Too Good for
Violence Curriculum.” Students
enjoyed the lessons as they used
cooperative learning and role
playing.
When the students completed
the six lessons, they were given a
graduation on Oct. 13,2011. Our
Parent Coordinator, Miss Shonda
Fobbs, sponsored the graduation.
Parents were invited to attend the
graduation to help students cel¬
ebrate this special occasion.
OPENING THE BOOK OF
NATURE PROGRAM
The Blue Heron Lake Nature
Conservancy will present a
workshop November 12, 2011
on the “Opening the Book of
Nature" Program. The workshop
will begin at 9:30 a.m. and close
at 4:30 p.m. Pre-registration is
required, as background materi¬
als will be sent out before the
workshop.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Auditions for “Best
Christmas Pageant Ever” will
be held at the Austin Theater
on October 25 and 26. 6:00

Valley. Children ages 6-14
and a few adults are needed.
Play will be directed by Linda

The Veterans Memorial in
the Everett Square Park will be
the location for Fort Valley’s
observance of Veterans Day
on Sunday, November 6 at
2 p.m. Limited seating will
be available. This is a com
munity program sponsored
by The American Legion Post
76. This year’s guest speaker
will be the Honorable Bryant
Culpepper. Of course our pro¬
gram will conclude with the
Flag Retirement Ceremony by
The Boy Scouts of America.

monthly meeting Oct. 3, 2011
under the esteemed leadership
of President John A. Demons.
The inspiration phase was
given by one of the newest
members of the Unit, Karen
Turner.
Vivian Fluellen, an employee
of Fort Valley State University -
Family and Consumer Sciences,
gave a masterful presentation on
detecting and preventing frauds
and scams. She passed out kits
containing the 2011 Consumer
Action Handbook. Members
of Peach County REA will be
available in Fort Valley City
