with the Veterans” at the post

The Veterans Memorial in the
Everett Square Park will be the
location for Fort Valley’s obser¬
vance of Veterans Day on Sunday,
November 6 at 2 p.m. Limited
seating will be available. This is
a community program sponsored
by The American Legion Post 76.
This year's guest speaker will be
the Honorable Bryant Culpepper.
Of course our program will con¬
clude with the Flag Retirement
Ceremony by The Boy Scouts of

College Wednesday, October
26, to become familiar with
^ services offered by MGTC,
including the co-op partner
ship between Robins AFB and
the College. Col. Butikofer
was accompanied by his wife,
Leslie, Chief Master .Sergeant
Patrick Bowen, Colonel Roger
Johnson, and Chief Master
Sergeant Mike Davis,
Col. Butikofer and his dele
gation were able to learn about
the services offered to the
community by MGTC, includ
ing credit programs, adult
education, economic develop¬
ment programs, as well as the
long-standing co-op program
partnership with Robins Air
Force Base.
The RAFB group received
a presentation from Dr. Ivan
Allen. MGTC president, and
Jeff Scruggs, vice president

Aircraft Structural, Machine
Tool Technology, and Aviation
Maintenance programs.

able to visit with the Child
Develoi >ment Center (CDC)
on M'GTC’s campus. The
CDC o ffers care for children
ages 3 to 12. In addition, the
MGTC CDC’ offers the Georgia
Lottery -funded pre-k program.
This program allows children to
attend pre-k at no cost.
Col. Butifkofer was recently
assigne d to Robins Air Force
Base i n July. He is responsible
for overseeing 2.500 Airmen
annual ly and for providing facil¬
ities and equipment support for
the base’s 37 hosted units. He
commands over 4.600 person¬
nel, a communications direc¬
torate. an operations support
squad ton, a comptroller squad¬
ron, a nd 10 wing staff agencies.
He is. also directly responsi¬
ble for logistics, medical, civil
engineer, security, and mission
support functions, in addition to
managing facilities and equip¬
ment valued at $6.9 billion.
Col. Butikofer received his
coni mission in 1989 through
the Air Force Reserve Officer
Trai ciing Corps at Utah State
University. His career high¬
lights include two squadron
commands; two group com¬
mands; various headquarter
statffs; and the Air Staff and the
Office of secretary of Defense
Sta ff.
MGTC and Robins AFB have
ha d a venerable and fruitful
pa rtnership, helping to provide
over 500 middle Georgia citi¬
zens with jobs at RAFB since
tlu; co-op program began. In
addition to the co-op, MGTC
also provides contract train¬
ing through the Economic
Development department at the
Base.
