CLCP/L.E.A.P. - LITERACY
EDUCATION FOR ADULTS
IN PEACH INC.
Did you know that by 2018,
63% of all U.S. jobs will require
at least some postsecondary
education? The Technical
College System of Georgia’s
Assistant Commissioner,
Bevery E. Smith, told an audi¬
ence during a Community
Outreach Symposium that
even the low skills jobs that
exist today are changing. For
this reason, completing high
school or earning a GED
diploma will be the key to
sustainability and moving
forward in the future.
There are more than 79
counties in Georgia that
have Certified Literate
Communities including Peach
County. Free day and night
classes are taught weekly by
Middle Georgia Technical
College instructors. There is
no charge for materials and
a scholarship is available for
eligible students when they
are ready to take the GED
battery of tests. Adult Basic
Education (ABE) and General
Educational Development
(GED) preparation classes are
taught in Fort Valley (700
Spruce St., Wing B - 478-
825-9072) and in Byron (202
Moseley Rd. - 478-956-7621).
