Not knowing what 2012 will
bring, perhaps we should be
cautious in our plant designs
and installations. Should
we plant the usual annuals,
perennials, shrubs, and trees
and hope for rain or should
we embrace the principles
of xeriscaping (the conserva¬

of you who would like to
subscribe to the latter way of
thinking, allow me to suggest
some excellent drought-tol¬
erant plants for your land
scapes.
Drought resistant plants
are generally those with
leaves that are small, thick,
glossy, silver-gray or fuzzy.
Each of these traits helps
them conserve moisture.
The following perennials are
good choices for the mois

delicate, lacy-leaf perennial
tolerate heat and drought

No One Else But God
only expects us to obey His
guidelines but He wants us to
love Him with all our heart.
No one except Jesus Christ
has done that perfectly. Since

We cannot get right with

We may think church atten¬

Lavender (Lavender

plant that is tough as nails
and looks and smells won¬
derful. Considered an herb,
it boasts of blue, lavender,
purple, or white flowers in
summer. They are great for
drying and using in crafts,
and in cooking. Grow it in
full sun in well-drained soil.
Reaches about three feet tall.
Sedum (Sedum variet¬

tough and drought resistant.
Some are grown for their
flowers (“Autumn Joy”),
but others such as “Frosty

blessed with gorgeous varie¬

from spring to fall. Plant in
full sun and well-drained

prairie plant which blooms
all summer and into the fall.
Its flowers are marked with
shades of red and yellow.
