The teachers of our secular schools have a great task before them. When wc have done all that usually expected or required in the line of secular education, still much remains to he done. Our labors arc sadly deficient. It is well, if the teacher sets no laid exam ple before his pupils. Even if he should furnish within himself a model of sound morals, still the education of his pupils needs to lie supplemented. Wilhout character life is a failure. Practical religion shapes aud constitute.-, character. Practical education combined with practical religion qualifies us to per form the duties of this life, and fill our souls with yearnings for a higher life In the great beyond nnd brings earth anil heaven nearer together. Too often the Sabbath is spent in frivc - itics—in things that lend us out of the path of rectitude. Moral culture is not merely the supplement, it is the vitali ty rather, of our education. Moral cul ture and practical religion nre closely rr- Intcd, and there cannot he much of one without the other. Our boys and girls should b Ssyour hair' Sreen? It’s only Another way of ashing.
