Bnnn^ail yielded to the strong pressure anil consent ed to become a candidate for the State Senate, and endorsing ids candidacy, were presented by Mr. M. V. B. Ake:— "Whereas, We have assembled as Dem ocrats at the call of the Democratic Exec utive Committee of Polk County for the purpose of placing before the people ol the 88th Senatorial District a candidate who shall truly represent them and their interests In tho Upper House of the next Generul Assembly of Georgia; "Be it Resolved, 1st, That we heartily congratidate the good people of the 88II1 Senatorial District that our honored fellow citizen, Col. W. C. Bunn, has Anally yielded to the strong petitions which huve come to him urging him to become a can didate for tha important office of State Senator, said petitions coming especially from the country districts of the county. Departed this life, Fcb’y 10th, 1808, in the city of Atlanta, Sister Emma Mat thews, wife of J. C. Matthews. Sister Matthews was horn in Atlanta, April 20th, 1801. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Elliott. Her mother died when sister Emma was small. While we know hut little of her child hood, but judging from her Christian life "ince we have known her, would lead us to believe that she was a loving, obedient nnd dutiful child.
