A Pleasant Evening.
On last Friday evening
one of
the most enjoyable and delight
ful eiitentainmeiits that lias been
given in Dallas this season was
tendered to the “younger set”
by Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Welch.
The games of “Fruit Basket,”
“Going to the West” and “Cross
Questions” were among the
pleasures of the evening.
The “fruit basket” was made
a reality by the young men and

Citizens Has Passed Away.
On Sunday morning at 8 o’clock
Mr. Wyatt Lee passed quietly
away at his home about seven
miles north of Dallas. Mr. Lee
has been sick for some time with
dropsy; he was very low in the
summer, but improved in the fall
and it was hoped and believed
that he would regain his health.
A few days ago lie again grew
worse, and On Sunday morning he
breathed his lust.
Mr. Lea early enlisted in the
Confederate States army and, it
is said of him by his associates,
that, he was one of the bravest
and truest, of Confederate sol
diers. Ho was a lieutenant at. the
close of the war; and since that
time he has lived whore the beau
tiful Raccoon valley joins the
Raccoon hills on the Acworth an
Rockinart road, and there sur
ounded by the quietude of his
country home, he and his good
wife have made a comfortable liv
ing and raised a large fuinily ol
children, among whom are onr
townsmen, Messrs. R. M., Jesse
Willie Lee and Mrs. Free ITay.
Mr. Lee wan a man who believed
and practiced honesty and up
rightneBs with his fellow nmu
and our county could boast of no
belter citizen. He will he liot
little missed i<y his many friends
and especially those who lived
nearest to him. .We mingle our
ympathy with his loved ones
May the God of Peace comfort
and bless them.

Mrs. S. F. Fuller died at. the
home of her soil, J. P. Fuller,
ho resides near Oval, on the
3rd day of January. She died
ith neuralgia of the heart after
brief illness. She was 78 years
old. Hail lived in Paulding
minty about three years; but
had lived in Georgia sinue a girl
ten years of age. Her father
moved to this stato from S. C.
Mrs. Fuller had been an ex-
mplary member of the Primi
tive Baptist church since si e
was 12 years old. Her remains
were laid to rest in Friendship
emetery. Itev. Solomon Gil-
gore preached the funeral ami
afficiated at the grave. Four
chrildren remain to mourn tho
loss of a kind, devoted, loving
mother. We extend our heart
iest sympathy to the bereaved.

dead modesty.
Mrs. Wyche, of Rome, came
down Wednesday last., to help
the ladies of the churches
their missionary work. Mrs

construction, were here Saturday
in consultaton with Div. Engin
eer, D. B. Dunn, ill regard to the
Seaboard extension. There were
also a number of Powder Springs
representative citizens here in
the interest of their town. They
are seeking to influence the
Seaboard authorities to run their
road through the thriving little
city of Powder Springs.
Dr. E. II % Robertson, W. M.,
of Dallas Lodge No. 182, F. & A.
M., and his wife entertained all
the officere of said Lodge at his
elegant, home on cartersville
street. Tuesday, the 18th inst

good things for the inner man
and one tithe the -“J. W.” forgot
to look after the craft, not hav
ing time for attending to him
self. Mrs. Robertson proved her
self equal to the task of provid
ing and superintending the table,
and what those Masons did to
that, dinner was indeed a nlenty.
