Senators are not generally

The Dutch Succession.
Queen Wilhelmina iB reported
once more to have hopes of an heir
to her throne. Should it turn out,
however, that she leaves no direct
heir the recent betrothal of Ihc
Grand Duke of Snxc-Woimur-’ to
Princess Caroline of Rouss, elder
lino, will greatly simplify tho prob
lems of succession. Next in line of
succession to tho Dutch queen is
-tho Grand Duke of Saxc-Weimar,
•nd nfter him comcB tho elder Reuss
family. The confusion is great, so
closely interwoven are the various
linos of relationship. This proposed
marriage will, continental authori
ties say, clear matters up. In tho
meantime Holland is hoping that
Wilhelmina will not have another
disappointment.
One on Secretary Root.
Wishing to obtain some special in

Secretary Root gave a breakfast at

thoroughly posted on the matter.
Being unusually nbsentminded that
morning, lie breakfasted alone and
then went into the lobby, where lie
found his two friends, lie invited
them into his ollico and there talked
with them for a couple of hours, for
getting all about bis breakfast invi

don’t you act better, and then you
would get more money ?”
