A. Chiles. Ordinary. | Political Gossip. Naval officers are now wrought up over the serious question. Shall there be two bridges on the flag ships? This is the time of year when one wishes that the scientific gentlemen who found the germ of laziness would hurry up and find the proper toxin. If Mayor Tom Johnson of Cleveland can secure the gu bernatorial election in Ohio there will be no further doubt respecting the democratic condidate for the presidency. There is a strong suspicion that the postmaster general is seeking to prolong the post- office investigation to such an extent that public interest will fail and ho particular attention will be paid to the n suits. And now Mayor Johnson’s state auditor threatens to as sess, the railroad property of Mr. Marcus A. Hanna in Ohio on the same basis as private property is assessed. Truly, the way of the senator is hard. The* political situation in New Yoik requires the imme diate attention of the presi dent. Unless he manages to patch up a truce between Platt and Odell the democrats will have a walk-over in the state. LAND SALE. Sacred Harp Singing. The New Georgia Sacred Harp singing society met on Sunday evening April lfith, according to previous arrangements, and after singing a song led by Prof. S. B. Duncan, the society proceeded to reorganize and elect officers for the present year. Mr. J. K. llonslee was elected chairman, .). A. McWharter, sec retary. The chairman appointed Prof, S. B. Duncan, Messrs. W. J. Ellis and J. 11. Brown arrang ing committee for the present year. After organizing, rhe com mittee arranged a splendid pro gram for the afternoon which was rendered well. Excellent lessons wore conducted by the chairman, Messrs. R. B. and J. T. Matthews, Noah Garner, S. B. Duncan and Dannie Campbell. A large audience was present, incldding visitors from different communities (whose presence was certainly appreciated,) and that good order which so well be- spearks the courtesy and refine ment of a community, prevailed throughout the afternoon. Every body seemed to enjoy the even ing, and to realize as did Addi son: “Music raises in the mind of the heart great conceptions; it strengthens devotion, nnd ad vances praise into rapture.’’ The society will meet at, 2 o’clock every third Sunday even ing in each month and we sin cerely hope that all the Sacred Harp singers, and all others who enjoy good music, will come out. and mit. fourth every effort to help tia make the society more enjoyable this year than it has ever been before. Hero are some suggestion for the woman who would avoid wrinkles. Don’t, speak with all the musc les of the face in play. It is very charming and captivating to bo deeply, deadly in earnest, bar, facial grimaces from creases which, in time, will become fixed. Don’t worry, but if worry you must, koep the forehead smooth and don’t frown. Don’t wear tight shoes. They make a young face look- drawn and wrinkled in a few hours. Don’t neglect ten minutes’ rest during the day, witli the feet, raised. It gives the whole body a great sense of repose and work* wanders in smoothing out the lines of the face. Don’t let insomnia get the up per hand. By all means in your power try to break up the lmbit. Sleeplessness is sometimes caused by unconscious hunger and a cup of hot water, or a biscuit will of ten induce sleop. Don’t go too long without food. Hunger giveB a strained look td 1 the lace. Now und then, if ouc is fatigue, a bite between meals will invigorate the whole system und give repose und relaxation to strained muscles and nerves. Don’t sit facing a strong light. Don’t stoop or bend over while reading or writing. Don’t scowl. Don’t use violence in smoothing out, lines on the face, for it will not, stand pounding. The manipu lation must be gentle und even, or the skin will become coarse and leathery. Don’t rub the lilies the wrong way, or they will become more, instead of less, prominent. Rub across the wrinkles, with a rota ry motion. Doi\’t loosen the skin from the underlying tissues, or stretch it. Don’t forget, that occasionally during treatment the face should be gently smoothed with the tips of the fingers of both hands. Don’t be anxious or dishearteil or impatient. These passions make ugly lines on the face. Don’t believe that there is any supernatural virtue in being ug ly, or that, it is so very frivolous to contrive that a man shall al- : ways remain in love with his own wife.—N. Y. Sun.
