THE GREAT
IFamily Medicine
Tbedford’i Block-Draught ha* I
saved doctor*' bills for more than
sixty years. For the common fam
ily ailments, such as constipation,
indigestion, hard colds, bowel com
plaints, chill* and fever, bilious
ness, headaches and other like
complaints no other medicine i*
necessary. It invigorates and reg
ulates the liver, assists digestion,
stimulates action of the kidneys,
K i the blood, and purges the
of foul accumulations. It
cure* liver complaint, indigestion,
sour Btomoch, dizziness, chills,
rheumatic pains, sideache, back
ache, kidnev troubles, constipation,
diarrhoea, biliousness, piles, hard
colds and headache. Every drug
gist bos Thedford's Black-Draught
in 25 cent packages and in mam
moth size for $1.00. Never accept
a substitute. Insist on having the
original made by the Chattanooga
Medicine Company.
I believe Thedford’s Black.Draught
Is the best medicine on earth. It to
good far any and everything. I have
a family of twelve children, and for
four years I have kept them on foot
and healthy with no doctor but Black-
Drau^rf. A J. GREEN, lUcwan, La.
California rebating Club.
I note with pleasure the ac
counts of the California debating
club. While 1 have uot had the
pleasure of visiting their meet
ings, or of familiarizing myself
with their organisation, I feel
no hesitancy in pronouncing it a
benefaction. I have given this
kind of work no little study and
have never known a society or
ganized for debate and for the
discussion of questions to be en
tirely without a good result.
But on the other hand 1 have
known much good to flow from
them. There is one thing yod
can always put down as being
true, and that is, where you And
u debating society in a commu-
Inity you will also And young
I men ambitious of doing some-
| thing great and good. At these
j institutions young men get a bet
ter knowledge of themselves.
They get a better idea of their
own powers and possibilities. It
gives them confidence in their
ability. Doubtless many a bright
intellect has wasted away be
cause of the fact that it failed
to discover itself until too lute.
It is hoped that this society
will grow and continue in its on
ward progress until its beneti-
cent influence will awaken young
men everywhere to its intpor
tance, aud until similar organi
zations shall have sprung up in
every locality.
Do you want to attend the World's fnlr?
From the Immense number uf estimates
being received each day to The Journal's
content, one would naturally conclude
that the answer of every Individual
would be In the affirmative. All are nat
urally very anxious to go, but some are
unable. The Journal has come to their
rescue. Forty people are going to the
great exposition as Its guests.
Will you be one of the forty?
In accordance with Its past spirit of
liberality, on May 10th, The Journal an
nounced for the first time that 40 free
trips to the St. Louis World's fair, each
consisting of a first-class ticket from At
lanta to St. Louis and return and |G0 for
expenses, would be given to this number
of Its subscribers, 20 of these trips to Its
subscribers In Atlanta and Fulton county
and 20 outside of Fulton county.
It is not necessary to pay In advance to
be entitled to estimate In this contest.
Each subscriber who has paid In advance
Is entitled to as many estimates as the
length of time subscription Is paid In ad
vance from May ,*th. The flret SO near
est correct estimates will receive these
free trips. It Is therefore Important that
you send In your estimate at once. Be
sure you have the carrier sign the cou
pon each time ypu pay Mm HI or 12 cents,
If the paper 1s delivered by carrier, or If
the paper Is received by mail, and you
send In your renewal don't forget to send
In estimates.
The contest close* at midnight April X,
MM. and the gates will open May lei.
While the estimates received last may 1
be the successful ones, it Is better to send
In estimates at once, and keep sending,
as the first 40 nearest correct estimates
will receive the trips. It eoets absolutely
nothing to enter the contest. Estimates
cannot be bought for any price, and as no
one wUI know the number of admissions
to the St. Loots World’s fair until after
the opening day, every one has an equal
chance. ^
Progressive Temple.
There are few towns in the
state or elsewhere, says the Oar-
roll County Times, that exhibits
more up-to-dateness than does
Temple. We have already men
tioned that the town has recently
voted bonds to build a line school
house, and they are going right
ahead with the work, having al
ready selected a lot for the house
and will hasten matters to a fin
ish.
But Temple has not stopped at
this; the business men have
among themselves subscribed
stock for a bank and will meet
Friday night and elect of
licers and get ready for business
at once.
The eiitire capital stook, $25,-
OfH), has oeen raised there at
home, all of the holders being
citizens of the county except
two, who live in Haralson coun
ty, but in that cammunity.
This not only speaks well for
them but will be of great advan
tage.
There are men living in our
country today who claim to be
citizens, who claim to be work
ing in the interest of their wives
and children, who claim to he
members of the church, and the
same men sell stulf in unlabied
bottles and in bottles falsely
l&hled that does not make the
man better who buys it and
drinks it and leaves him in the
eud without value received.
Therefore the man who sells it
has willfully violated the law,
both human and divine. He is
practicing a.deceit on the law
abiding and God fearing people
that his boy and his girl will not
fail to notice. No matter how
rich they who practice such un
lawful acts may become their
children will enter life under
great disadvantages. When the
principle which has been instill
ed into the young mind is wrong;
the whole character is wrong,
and likely the whole life will bo
wrong. Could those who engage
in such practices realize for once
the seriousness of the sin they
are committing, they would sure
ly come to a very sudden halt.
Doubtless if you are guilty of
this you have many tilings in
your daily life that suggests to
you a halt then and now.
Let others get rich if they will,
hut in the name of humanity and
of all that is right, you follow a
more honorable culling.
