The colored people of thecoun
t.y and surrounding country held
their annual singing at the court
house Sunday. A large crowd of
the race were, here and went at
the singing with a spirit and vim
which always characterizes
gathering of these people,
number of white people attended
the afternoon services, and enjoy
ed the great volumes of harmony
thatedme from their lips.
Mrs. Claudie Wood and child
reu, wife of Mr. Frank Wood, of
this county, in company with her
sister, Miss Lizzie Griffin, Atlan
ta, went to the Isle of Balms
with a number of friends last
week. They had a most delight
ful time surf bathing and battling
with the wily waves of the great
Atlantic, also boat riding on the
briny deep. They report a most
delightful and enjoyable time
and unite in saying that the Isle
of Palms is the gratest place for
surf bathing on the Atlantic
coast. Hotel accomodations were
good.

declining health for several year*

home one mile of town Friday,
June 26th, nf a complication of
old ajle and disease.
He tame to Dallas more than
fifty years ago where he has since
practiced law and farmed. The-
interment occurred at the Dalla»
cemetery Saturday afternoon.
He was about suventv-flve years
of age. Two children are all of
a large family that survive him..

Uncle Zoke darter’s death wa^
sudden. During the day lie had
been engaged in riding over his
farm. Late in the afternoon
just as he had dismounted hit
mule at home, ho was seen to
stagger, but reached his home
unassisted. When those near
by readied his bedside lie Imd
almost lapsed into unconscious
ness and in less than ten minutes
he expired in the arms if his
daughter, Mrs. bailie Golden.
Congestion of the Jungs was the
cause of his death. There was
not a better known man in Pauld
ing county. He has lived here
for more than sixty year-, and
through his energy and hard
work has accumulated quite a
comfortable fortune.
He was seventy-nine years of
age i}nd leaves u wife who is aw
invalid, four sons and two
daughters.
The remains wero interrod in
the citv cemftery at six o’clock
Sunday afternoon.

two games of base bull on the
formers’ grounds last week. The
first game was fairly won by the-
home team, a score of 12 to 4 be
ing the result. As Ihe regular

the game and his decisions al
ways went against the visitors..
