The Forsyth County News Vol. 10. No. 1. Season’s Greetings. Brown has moved to the Groover house on Dah lonega Street. Mr. Ed Kolky of Gainesville spent last week with relatives in town. Miss Meda Fowler was con lined to her room with measles last week. Mrs. Ruth Hawkins is spend ing sometime with Mr. and Mrs M. W. Webb in Gainesville. Mrs. M. E Eight of Buford is visiting Mr. Sm'th Harrison and family Mr. Abe Wy-.lt has moved in the house with Mrs. Sallie Ta rim. The semi-weekly Journal and News for $1.15 a year. Misses Leona and Grace Latt ner, who are attending school in Chattanooga, spent the holi days with relatives here. Mr. Emery Phillips is work ing for Hec McGee over at Du luth and will be glad to have his friends call to see him when over there. Mr. T. P. Several of the business men are giving you their greetings for the New Year in this issue. ■ Look them up. Mr. E. M. Wheeler has mov ed to Osorfield, Ga., to make his future home. We wish he and his good famdy well in the southern climes of the state. Mr. Frank Light, an old For syth county boy, and Miss Ad die Dunnigan of Buford, were haopily married during the hoi idays.' Frank has many friends here who wish him a long and happy l^e. A good deal of the holiday visiting was snowed under this time. Mr. F. G. Roberts of Cordele spent the holidays with his fam ily here. Master Charlie Tillman Mar tin is very ill with pneumonia f -ver at his home in Buford. Miss Efffe Blackstone has re turned from a two weeks visit in Atlanta. Mrs. Vel Fowler and child ren of Gainesville spent last of the week with relatives here. You can get the tri-weekly Constitution and News for $1.50 a year for the two. There is quite an epidemic of German measles in town a mong the children, but it is very mild in its attacks. Mr. Geo. Milford of near Law rencevdle was here last week to attend the funeral of his sis ter, Mrs. Sarah Ellis Mr. S. H. Allen has been on the sick list for several days a! though able to be at his work most of the time. Mrs Ina Mae Tatum and lit tle daughter have returned af ter a two weeks stay with rela tives in Atlanta. Mr. Jim Kelley had the mis fortune to fall and break his hip one morning this week. We hope he will soon be able to be out again. Practically all the rural pub lic schools of the county have opened but the attendance is low on account of the extreme bad weather. The Woman’s Missionary So ciety will meet Friday after noon with Mrs. W. N. Pool. The president urges every member to be present as this is a meet ing for the installation of of ficers for the year, as well as getting final reports for the year just pas°ed. We w ill go over our books be fore another issue and cut off all subscriptions that are a year or more behind. We are forced to do this because we are not fi nanciallv able to carry them any longer. It requires just 3 times the amount of capital to run a paper aas it did two years ago w'hen we were printing the paper for 50c, and every one owing us ought to be willing to pay for it. Sunshine in The Home, Power in The Board of Educat ion held an important m 'eting Tuesday Mr. Wesley Hawkins is re ported on the sick list. Mrs. Alman Hockenbull was very sick last week. Mr. Barney Wallis has moved to the Gramling house. Xmas parsed off very quietly in Gumming. Mr. Thad Pickett of Atlanta spent a, r ew days with Mr JR. Echols and family Xmas. Mr. and Mrs.J . E. Puett vis ited relatives in Noreross a few of the holidays. Mr. Claude Kemp <>' Syca more, Ga., spent a few days here during Xmas. Several of the soldier boys come home and spent a few of the holidays with homefolks. Misss Cassie Brannon of Wood bury spent the holidays with her parents here. Mrs. J. P. Fowler and child ren visited relatives in Buford a few days last week. Mrs. H. N. Kirby, who is teach ing in south Georga, was a visit or here during the holidays. Mises Katharine and Am - nettet Merritt spent the holi days with relatives in Atlanta. Mrs. J. F. Echols 'and little son of Atlanta are visiting Mr. J. R Echols and family. Mr. A. C . Benson and famii; will likely locate at Fitzgerald to make their future home. School opened last Wednes day morning, but dismissed un til Monday on account of the bad weather. Mr. Roy Strickland and fam ily ajtened the wedding of Hr Alton Chatham and Miss Net tie Rogers during the holiday s. Mrs. Hoyt Brannon of Daw sonville spent the holidays as a guests of her mother, Mrs. W. R. Otweil. Mr. Dilmus Tidwell and fam ily and Mr. Fred Tidwell and family visited their parents a day or two of Xmas. Mr. Otis Mashburn, who has been quite sick at Camp Wheel er,has been on a visit to his pa rents on route 4. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M. Owen of near Oakwood were visitors to Mr, W. J. Groover and fam ily Xmas. The rural carriers got a day off New Years Day, but they had plenty of parcels post to keep them going Xmas day. Several nice porkers were kill ed during the holidays, v hich added some to the nap mess of the vuletide. Misses Clara and Imogene A! lon hate returned to the G. N. & I. College a; Miledgoville, at ter spending the holiday., with homefolks. The attorneys are kept very busy filling out the questiormair es for the soldier boys, and do not have but little time to le vote to their practise. Rev. John P. Smith and fam ily will move to Hazlehurst ..t an early date. We regret to have them leave us but wish them well in their new he me. Messrs In Waldrip and Ro’ ston Smith were in to take ad vantage of our clubbing rate this week, as well as many otl ers. We thank them all. There were 5,387 bales of col ton ginned in the county up 1 December 13th 1917, as com pared to 6,472 up to iLc s or : time in 1916, showing a d< crease of 1,085 bales. r Mr. and Mrs. J D.
