Misses Pearl and Oma Pend ley spent oneafternoon last week with Mrs Addie Lamb. Mr Jim Martin and wife spent Thursday night with the latters parents, Mr and Mrs 1 J Pend ley. Miss Nellie Phillips and lit tie sister and Miss Mintie Nix visited at Mr A W Martin s on last Sunday. Miss Carrie Mashburn and sister Mrs Haynie of Gaines ville spent Saturday night and Sunday with their parents, Mr and Mrs W A Mashburn. Rev G C Light will preach at Harmony Grove next Sunday at 11 o’clock. There will be Sun day school at 9 :30. Everybody cordially invited to come. Mr C H Bennett is all smiles —lt’s a boy. Mrs Susie Bennett and child ren spent Saturday afternoon at Mr J L Cruse’s. SHADY GROVE. Mr N T Samples and family spent one day last week with Mr J E Heard and family. Mrs M J Mayfield is spend ing a few days her daughter, Mrs Winchester Henson. Mr and Mrs Athen Mullinax spent one night, last week with the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs C W Bowman. Mrs Sarah Heard spent last week with her son, Mr J E Heard. Ml and Mrs Virgil Young blood spent Saturday night with Mr and Mrs Howard Dar racott. Mrs Hattie Morgan spent a few days last week with her sis ter, Mrs Lillie Chambers. Mr N B Nuckolls has pur chased a Ford. Mr J E Heard and family spent Saturday night and Sun day with relatives near Buford Mr and Mrs Howard Darra cott spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs B M Youngblood. Mr C J Harben visited Mr F K Chambers Sunday p m. Mr and Mrs Oscar Floyd spent oneafternoon last week with Mr B P Hope and family near Harmony Grove. Sunday school at this place next Sunday mornng at ten o’clock. COAL MOUNTAIN. Sunday was a beautiful day. Guess most of you corrcspon dents had a nice time Easter. We haven’t a great deal o. sickness at this writing. Miss Johnnie Forrist is very sick with bronchitis. Also wt learn that John \V iison Smith, the little son of Mr and Mrs Ma ther Smith, is real sick, but did not learn what the trouble wat We hope they will soon be well again. Mr Burd Recce, w ho has been overseas, has received an hon orabe discharge, and is at horrn with his parents, Mr and Mrs I J Reece. We are certainly glad to have Burd back with us. Mr Burd Martin spent Satur day night with Mr’Tom Reece Mr and Mrs Geo Castleberry spent Saturday night and Sun day with Mr and Mrs Walter Hardin. Mr Torn Reece has been con fined to his room again with something like lagrippe. Hope for him a speedy recovery. Born to Mr and Mrs Alex I’ii 'grim on the 19th a girl. Misses Annie and Susie Heard and Sallie Reece visited Miss Eva Martin Sunday afternoon. Miss Kitty Lee Forrist spent Saturday night with her cousin Miss Johnnie Forrist. Misses Velvie and Lula Cas tleberry spent Sunday night with their uncle, Mr Tom Whee ler. Miss Emma Martin spent Sat crelay night with Mrs Cliff Mar tin. Miss Pearl Forrist spent from Sunday till Thursday with her grandmother and aunt, Mrs Ethel Benson, who has been very sick. We are sorry to say that her grand-mother is not do ing much good. Don’t forget that next Satur day and Sunday are our regu lar meeting days. Everybody come out and be with us. Mrs. Porter is visiting her daughter, Mrs Julia Pilgrim. Messrs Willie Bennett and I. Hammond, and Misses Ethel & dura Bennett spent Sunday in Buford. Mr and Mrs Olia Smith spent a few days last week with her father, Mr Walter Martin. Those visiting at Mr C W Thornton's Sunday were: Mr. W A Hendrix and family, Mr Ernest Martin wife and baby, and Mr Walter Martin. Mr Olie Smith and family and Mr Tillman Kellogg spent Sunday at Mr A N Tidwell’s. Miss Carrie Hendrix spent 1 evening last week with Miss Stella Nix. Mrs Walter Martin, Mrs Va da Martin and baby and Mrs Olie Smith and children spent one evening last week with Mrs Lula Hendrix. The egg hunt given by Miss Nellie Tidwell was enjoyed by ill present. Remember there will be Sun day school at this place next Sunday at nine o’clock. BEAVER RUIN Rev D M Nalley filled his ap pointment at this place and we sure did hear a sermon. Rev V K Vaughan closing out, and what Bro. Vaughan told was he truth. Mr Egbert Shadburn and wife spent one day r last week vith the latter’s parents, Mr & Mrs C O Wheeler. Miss Cleo Stapp, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs \ H Kemp, returned home Sat urday, accompanied by Miss Bertie Pruitt. Miss Lizzie Holbrook spent i last Saturday night with Miss Ruby Holbrook. Mr Jay Holbrook visited Mr Cliff Holbrook Saturday night. Mr Lee Holbimk and family spent Saturday yi- and Sun day with Mr a id Asberry Wolfe. Miss Myrtle Holbrook spent the last of the v. ok in Gum ming. Mr Carter Barrett and wife visited at Mr S D Ilagood’s Sun day. The singing given by Miss Cleo Stapp Sunday night was well attended and enjoyed by all present. Buddies. ROUTE 2. John Doe left Sunday for ar extended visit to parts un known. Several young people made a pleasure trip to Sawnee Sun day. In consequence of the recent rain farming is on a standstill. Practically no plowing done. Most, everybody who knows Truman Wallis knows of his fondness to take his gun and go ing out in pursuit of the fowls of the air and the animals of the earth. So not long ago his trained and ever watchful eye espied a hawk’s nest near Ins home. So early one morning re cently he, in company with his neighbor, Mr Carey Smith, dt cided to pay said nest a visit, and due to the excellent marks manship of Truman, they soon returned with a mammoth old hawk measuring 4 feet 4 1-4 ft from tip to tip, much to the gratification of those who have young chicks. Another occurrence: Mrs G W Beavers discovered one moi ning last week that some ro dent had been wreaking havoc amongst her small chickens,eat ing their legs off and not harm ing any other part of them. Ex amination revealed that 2 rats had been doing,said damage Several small chickens are now going aroui J < one leg.
