In Loving Memory.
Of dear grand mother, Mrs.
Mary A. Wingo, who departed
this life the 21st day of Febru
ary, 1919. She was the widow
of the late W. P. Wingo of this
county and numbered her frien
ds by the score. She was 80 yrs
of age and able to get about
fine until about six weeks be
fore she died. She had a stroke
of apoplexy and was never a
ble to walk any more. She was
the most patient sufferer I ever
saw and such faith, it was in
spiring to behold. All during
her sickness she wanted the end
to come. She said she wouldn’t
ever be well any more, and did
not dre£d death in the least.
She told me numbers of times
that she was perfectly willing
and ready for the summons to
come. How I pray for the end
to find me as well prepared as
dear grandma. She had been
visiting us for several months
when she was taken sick, and
I was with her constantly. It is
so hard to be reconciled to her
absence. We miss her so much.
She joined the Baptist church
when quite young and was a
most faithful member and chris
tian worker. She sure did enjoy
seeing the good works of Lord
carried on. She was an inspira
tion to nobler things to all that
met her. She leaves seven child
ren and numbers of grand child
ren and great grand children
and a host of friends to mourn
her death. I know it is hard to
give up mother, but children
think not of her as being dead,
for using the Master’s own
words she just sleepeth. She
has crossed the river and is now
resting with God and her loved
ones who had preceded her to
the home. We can not have her
form with us any more but we
all have her precious memory
and it is very sweet to me. I feel
that she will hover over us all
in the form of an unseen angel
She can not come back to us,
but we all have the opportuni
ty of joining her, and it was her
desire to meet all her loved one
and friends in the home of our
Savior where there is no more
sad parting. I can truly say,
•wont that be a happy meeting
Grandma has left a vacant
place with us all, but she is now
where there is a place awaiting
us all, and I feel that she is ex
pectantly watching for each
place to be filled, and dear lov
ed ones, if you loved her meet
her in the sky. Let’s all try to be
as faithful as she, and death
will hold no terrors for us. Her
remains were laid to rest at
Friendship, where she joined
the church when just a girl Rev
C. A. Wallace conducted the fr
neral service.
We mourn to see the ones we
love, laid low beneath the silent
sod,’but they we know have pas
sed above into the paradise of
God. Grandma, we loved you.
but angels loved you best, so
they called you from us into s
