Mr. Cliff Kemp spent the last of the week in south Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Brannon have returned from Atlanta. Col. H. L. Patterson attended Dawson Superior Court Wed nesday. Miss Sarah Robinson of Face ville spent a few days last week with Miss Annie Robbs. Mr. E. H. Tollison of East man spent a day or two with .relatives here last week. , Mr. Geo. L. Merritt spent sev eral days last week and this in Atlanta. * Mr.'Macon Durham of Bu ford spent a day or two with homefolks this week. Note change in ad of Forsyth County Realty & Auction Cos. If you want to buy a farm you’d better get busy. Rev. F. C. Owens is conduct ing a meeting at Ebenezer this week, being assisted by Rev. Burtz. The bond election will be pulled off next Saturday, the 16th. Go out and vote your choice. We understand that Mr. Jess Martin who moved to Cordele last year will likely return to this county to make his home. Mrs. E. L. Tatum and daugh ter, Miss Nellie, spent several days last week with relatives here and in the county. Mrs. Lucy Redd of Atlanta, ta, and Mrs Byers of Okla, have been visiting relatives in the county for several days Mr. Hiram Kellwp and fam ily, and Mr. Linton Kelley, of Gainesville, spent Sunday with relatives In town. Protracted services will be gin at Piedmont next Sunday night. Everybody invited to at tend. Tuesday was return day for the August term of the court. There were 15 cases filed for the term. Rev. R. H. Thompson, assist ed by Rev. Nalley, closed a great revival at Sharon Sunday with several additions to the church. We are requested to state that Rev. L. A. Henderson will preach at Shady Grove the fourth Sunday in this month at 11 o’clock. Mr. J. P. Banister has com menced work on his new barn on Canton St.,-and expects to have it ready to handle stock this fall. Mr. Roy Otwell has sold the Chero Cola Bottling plant at Gainesville to Charlie Wallis at a hadsome profit. It is said that he made five thousand in the deal. The county has received a large $3500 truck from the gov ernment to use on the roads of the county. This helps a great deal. Mr. Jas. Dimsdale and fam ily of south Georgia are visiting Mrs. J. W. Merritt on route 4, and other relatives in the coun ty Mr. Frank Day has about completed his house on Talbot street and it is being occupied by Mr. Miller, who is connect ed with the drainage of Big Creek. Turn to the ad of the Auction Sale of May Montgomery on last page, keep in mind the date and go buy goods at your own price. Quite a number attended the school examination here last Friday and Saturday. Sup’t Kennemore is grading the pa pers and will let the folks know their standing soon. Mr. J. T. Cartev of Luxomni has purchased the Fed Henson place from the Forsyth County Realty & Auction Cos., and will come to this county to make his home. We give him a glad wel come. Mr. W. F. Speer of Amorillo Texas, formerly of this county, spent several days last week with relatives hereabouts. He left here about 25 years ago, and this is his first visit since. He hardly knew the country. Mr. M. W. Whitt, who has been sick with fever, is better. We are glad to learn the Mr Lockaby, grandson of Mr. E. S. Harris, is improving some. Mr. J. D. Watson of route 6 has a nice cow for sale. Call on him. Mr. A. J. Tollison of near At lanta is visiting relatives in the county Judge Tidwell and Col. J. P. Fowler were in Atlanta Tues day. Mr. W. W. Heard has pur chased the home where he lives from J G. Puett. Mr. Eugene Kirby, who has a position in Ala., is visiting homefolks. Monday was Court of Ordi nary. Not so very much busi ness before the court Miss Madge Brooks is spend ing several days with relatives in Suwanee. Mr. M. W. Webb and family of Gainesville spent Sunday with his father, Mr. Joel Webb Mr. Ed Merritt and family spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Atlanta. Read ad of J. D. Mr. Major Nuckolls and fam ily of Gainesville spent Satur day night and Sunday with rel atives in town. Messrs Wm. H. Fields, and Onus Echols of Atlanta spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs H. S. Brooks. Messrs Toy Otwell and fam ily and Oscar Hyde and family spent Sunday with Mr. Homer Hyde and family near Marietta Mr. Virgil Kemp has purc-has er the house now occupied by Mr. Geo. L. Heard, from J. G. Puett. Rev. C. T. Brown filled his ap pointment at the Baptist church in town Sunday at eleven and at night. There will be a game of base ball at Cuba Saturday evening between the Cuba and Buford teams. Go over and see the game. Sen. Harbin has introduced a bill in the Senate to create a board of commissioners in this county, and it will likely pass this session. Note change in ad of Farm ers & Merchants Bank in this issue. The Cashier, Mr. Hope, informs us that the deposits in this bank are over three hun dred thousand dollars. Governor Dorsey, and others have offered a reward of $350 for the arrest of John Dawson who killed John Cobb in Daw son county a few months ago. Mr. Herbert Allen of near Hawkinsville is spending a few days with his brother, J. B. Al len, and other relatives in the county. Mrs. Geo. L. Patterson and lit tie daughter of Valdosta are visiting Col. H. L. Patterson and family. Mr. Wesley Hawkins has pur chased the Merriman Tate house from Arbin Hall for $1900.00. Tuesday was legal sales day. The James property was bought by Geo. Moore for $1275.00, and the Majors place by Norman Day for $3000.00, The matter of renting a house in Cumming is a serious one. We do not know of a sin gle one to rent to anybody. Tandy Anglin came rushing into the News office one day last week with a large twin cu cumber. Both were closely uni ted together and had only one stem. It was quite a ‘freak’. Mr. A. W. Pruitt has rented the Mrs. W. R. Otwell house and will move to town this fall. He will rent his farm to Berry Harris for another year. FOUND: Near Ducktown a bunch of keys, owner can get same by calling on Barney Wallace "and describing same, and paying for ad. Banister, who has been in France with the army, has received his discharge and is spending a few days with his father, Rev. J. J. Banister. Miss Julia Rogers of near Sheltonville and Mr. Charlie Harrell of route 7 were happily married last Tuesday We wish them a long, happy and pros perous life. A little son of Mr. Jesse O.' Kirby, Who lives just below Big Creek was accidently shot by a little brother Sunday. While it was a serious wound the last reports were that the little fel low was still living. School Notice. Consolidated school districts The Board has laid out anew school district as follows: Beginning at the residence of J H. Hubbards, hence run ning the ridge to the residence of W. B. McClure thence, fol low the road leading by G. R. Westbrook, W. W. Smith and W. C. Tumlin to the Mrs L. A. Westbrook place.
