Mrs. John Cook was quite
sick last Saturday.
Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Hunter
gave a birthday dinner last Sat
urday, it being the occasion of
the Drs. 54th birthday. We
join his many friends in wishing
him many happy returns of
Aug 2nd.
Mr. N. T. Heard spent last
week in Atlanta.
Rev. Elias Cochran is attend
ing services at Hopewell this
week.
Mrs. W. J. Chamblee and ba
by and her brother. Mr. James
R. Landrum of near Canton
were visiting the writer and
wife last Friday night.
It is reported that Mr. Cicero
Puckett is to move back from
Atlanta to the place now occu
pied by Mr. Alonzo Strawn.
It wont be but a short time
till fodder pulling will occupy
our attention.
Mrs. Mary Garrett informed
us that her son, Mr. Martin Gar
rett of Dallas Texas was to start
Aug. 2nd, for this place o na vis
it to her and others. Mr. Gar
rett is in the real estate business
out there and is doing well. We
wish him a pleasant stay.
Mr. Thomas Padgett and
wife of Gordon county spent
last week with relatives here.
He says crops are fine in Gor
don.
We do not see anything in
the way of cotton being a high
price this fall. The crop is
bound to be short. The world
needs the staple, us poor farm
ers need the money, so every
thing considered we are look
ing for a good price.
A small storm visited us last
Friday evening which blew
corn down pretty bad.
Messrs Luther. Wiliams and
Otis Wood together with their
wives were visiting relatives on
route 7 last Saturday night.
Protracted services closed at
Hopewell last Sunday with 8
additions to the church all by

Mr. Arthur Bales of near
