Mr. Cole Harrison and fam ily of Memphis, Tenn., have been visiting his mother at Coal Mt. Miss Mary Robinson of route 2, and Mr. Arnold Williams of route 6, were married Sunday, Rev. R. H. Thompson perform ing the ceremony. We wish them a long, happy and pros perous life. Note the rounds of the Tax Receiver in another column, and meet him at your nearest stop and return your taxes for 1920. Mr. W. E. Bell, the clever auctioneer who conducted the ‘old hoss sale’ of the American Railway Express Cos. here last Saturday, made such a favor able impression with his work that he has been engaged to con duct all similar sales of this company in Georgia and South Carolina. This news will be oi interest to his many friends throughout this section. Gainesville News. The convicts are now on the Atlanta road in sight of town. We hope to see this road put in traveling shape by the end of the year so the people here can get to a wholesale market with out having to go in mud knee deep over the Buford road. Col. and Mrs. H. L. Patterson celebrated their fiftieth wed ding anniversary Tuesday. Al tho seventy five years old. Col. Patterson is in good health and full of vim and vitality. Willis Black and Paul Dover over at Flowery Branch, have an up-to-date garage in that .town. They expect soon to have the best in north Georgia. Miss Callie Phillips, daugh ter of Mr. Marshall Phillips, formerly of this county, died at the home of her mother in Bu ford last week. She is survived by her mother, and several brothers and sisters in this and adjoining counties to whom we . extend sympathy. Don’t fail to read the ad of T. M. Boaz of Calhoun on anoth er page. Phillips and family spent Sunday with relatives at Cuba. Mr. S. H. Allen spent several days last week in Atlanta and Chamblee on business. ! Messrs J. L. Phillips and C. jB. Virgil Kemp is making ar rangements to open up a sales room in Buford and will sell the Chevrolet car in that territory The census enumerators have about finished their work, some of them have already sent in their reports to Washington. There were 13,195 bales of cotton ginned in the county up to Jan. 16, as compared to 10,813 up to the same time last year, showing an increase of 2,882 bales. ; While in Duluth Monday we ! were pleased to find that Steve Poole and the Bagwell boys, al so Will Jones, were doing well in business there. The Farmers: We are busy now making preparations for another crop. Mother and Infant Dies. Mrs. Dovie Rider, thirty years of age, and her little in fant, died at their home near Silver City one day last week, and they were both buried in the same casket at Concord, Rev. G. W. Forrist conducting the funeral services. Mrs. Rider is survived by her husband and one little boy, to whom we extend sympathy Mr. P. A. Sullivan. Died at his home near Long street one day last week and his remains were laid to rest at Al pharetta, Rev. B. A. Phillips conducting the funeral services Mr. Sullivan was seventy six years of age, and is survived by several children, and a host of other relatives and friends to whom we extend sympathy.
