Mr. Hiram Kelley and family of Gainesville spent first of the week with relatives in town. Col. John Wood of Canton, candidate for solicitor, was here shaking hands with the people this week. Mr. E. L. Bradford has an ad in this issue He has just re ceived a car of Chevrolet cars and wants to sell you one. Mr. A. G Hockenhull spent Saturday night and Sunday at the bedside of his mother in Atlanta. The farmers got to attend court after all this week as it rained Sunday and the ground was too wet to plow. We are glad to see Mr. W. },[. Tate out again after an ill ness of two or three weeks Rev. F. T Wills is again able to fill his appointments He is serving the churches at Ocee, Ball Ground and Liberty, and he is likely to receive a call for Jasper church. Mrs. W M Pettis, who has been at the bedside of her sis ter at Butler, Ga., has return ed home. We are glad to learn that her sister is now out of danger. Some rascal stole the Ford car of Mr Harris Moore in At lanta last Friday night. He parked the car at Marietta and Forsyth sts., went back in about ten minutes, and the flivver was gone. B. F. Mr and Mrs J E Puett and Mrs Julia Hall attended the funeral of Mrs Braselton at Pendergrass Wednesday. Col John I Kelley of Law renceville, candidate for con gress from the 9th, was shak- 1 ing hands with the people here Tuesday. He has many good | friends over the ninth who will help him in his campaign. Mr T J Pirkle is expected back from New York to day He will have something to tell you about good merchandise in a week or two The heavy rains Sunday caused a great many people to miss hearing Bishop Candler speak. The February (adjourned) term of Forsyth Superior Court met Monday morning, Judge Blair presiding, ffndvjohn T. Dorsey solicitor and Wra. Butt assistant, looking after the in terest of the state. The grand jury was organ ized by electing Rev. R. H. Thompson as foreman and Mark Howard as Clerk. The business of the*court is being pushed rapidly find it is thought that the docket will be cleared especially of civil bus in ess. Col. I. Mrs. Braseton is survived by two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends to whom we extend sympathy Little Girl Dies. The little three year old. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J B Allen died Sunday and its re-1 mains were interred in the cemetery here Monday. This is the second death in Mr Allen’s family during the last month, and the people of. Cumming are deeply sympa thizing with him in the loss of his two children. B. H. Hulsey Dies Mr B H Hulsey, a prominent citizen of the county residing near Hopewell, died at his home last Thursday and his re mains were interred at Cross Roads Friday. He is survived ; by his wife, several children, and a host of other relatives and friends to whom we extend sympathy. Banks To Close. COURT HOUSE MEETINGS At a retfent conference of the Cumming Baptist church it was ( arranged .for the pastor to j preach at the Court House on the afternoon cf each first Sun day in the mon h, instead of at the church at night. At these meetings special ser mons will be preached on very | timely subjects and special emphasis will also be given to the song feature of f the wor ship which will be under the di re< tion of our church choff. These meetings are inteded especially for the general good and all the peonle of the town and surrounding country are cordially invited to come and help us make them count for the most possible, for real good and for the glory of God Everybody c( me to the first service, at 4:30 o’clock, court bouse time, on Sunday, April 4th. Baptists Please Remember That the first annual install ment of the 75 Million Fund is, due and is expected to all be paid and sent in to the office of the State Mission Board, not later than April 30th. Let us see to it, brother pastors and church organizers, that the mat ter is rounded up nicely in ev ery church and that nothing be lost to our work because of our failure in any church to make good now on our first years dues. Will not someone see that an earnest effort is made also in every church in which the campaign was not put on, to take a great collection for this fund at the April meeting and try to reach every member for a part in it. They are a hard-worked class of people, and their salaries are too small. We were glad to see our old friend, Rev Frank Eakes, at the dedication services Sunday. Frank was raised in Cumming and the people here are proud of his rapid rise in the ministry Attorney General Cliff Walk er, who is a candidate for Gov ernor, spoke to a good size crowd at the court house Wed nesday at the noon hour of court.
