ENEMIES OF THE CROSS.
Phil, 3:18, 19 .For many walk, of
|hom I have told you often, and now
1 „ell you even weeping, that they ar- j
the enemies of the cross of Christ: (
Whose end is destruction, whose God
n their belly, and whose glory is in
Wleir shamo, who mind earthly things.
trouble has been brewing in the
churches. He is hurt even to tears
on account of those who were the
enemies of the cross, it is possible
that there can be enemies of the cross
The cross became necessary in the
revelation of the awfulness of sin.
Can there be those in the church who
pretend publicly to be friends that
are in reality enemies? what is the
cross, it is the doctrine of the atone
ment. To substitute something for
tho atonement or to belittle it is sin.
It is deeper than a material cross.
What must Jesus think of those who
worship the crucifix? what is the Gos
pel, it is an out flow, unquestioned re
velation of God's* attitude toward the
lost world, what was Gcd doing in
Christ God was in Christ reconciling
a lost world to him, how much did
God love the world, for God so loved
the world that he gave his only begot
ten son that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have eter
nal life. What more did he say. Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou
shall be saved, come unto me all
ye that labor and are heavenly laden
and I will give you rest. Now let us
hear some of God’s great questions,
the first one was to Adam where art
thou? the second was to the woman
what is this that thou hast done? then
a question to the home. What have
they seen in thy house? God’s quest
ion to the despondency, what doest
thou hear, Elijah. Gods question of
wonder, why will ye die? then God's
unanswerable question, how shall we
escape if we neglect so great a salva
tion? now here is the secret of it all.
The man that relies on himself will
fail, but he that relies on the promises
of God, will be able to walk the path
the heroes tred, now I ask that every
one read the first chapter of Galatians
and see what kind of a preacher that
the apostle Paul was, it is a warfare
here if we follow our Christ. I want
to be able to say as Paul said when
his time was about up here. I want
to say I have fought a good fight, I
have kept the faith, for there is a pro
mise to such and that promise is a
crown of righteouness, and that is
what I want when I leave this world
and of course it wont be long with me|
Now let us all ask ourselves this
question, have I truly been reconciled
to God, and if so where am I and what
am 1 doing for my Lord. With best
wishes to all I will close for this time
as ever your humble servant in Christ.
