and China will be waging war!
Everybody can assess the blame for
the present depression on somebody
else.
We see where some professor is
blaming the crime wave on divorce.
Maybe so!
You can look back into 1931 if you
wish to but we prefer to look ahead
into 1934.
Ily the time tiie bill for farm relief

“open door" gives tire world and idea
of what may be ahead.
Experts are confident of sound

IN LOVING MEMORY
Of our dear brother and brother in
law Loyd Hoed who was called out of
this blessed old world last Thursday
about 2 o’clock. He met death, Oh
how sad it is to think that he left
home without a pain and was a corpse
at 2 o’clock he had been away about
5 hours till he met death, Oh how sad
it is it almost b'eaics our hearts to
think about how quick he was snatch
ed out of this old world, oh it seems
that we cannot never stay at home
any more just to think that he has
been with us almost ever since we
have been married and now to think
that he is gone forever and ever.
Oh we will never forget them pre
cious sweet smiles he had. he was so
kind hearted it looks like most every
thing that we did pleased him, oh how
sad it is to get up every morning and
look in his room and no Loyd, Oh how
kind he was to us all, he always made
friends with everyone.
Oh if we could of just been there
and only lifted him up. Loyd was so
good to stay at home with us and
helped us out so much, oh how lonely
it is here without him. I dont see why
dear Loyd was taken away from us
as he was the pick of the family, oh it
is so sad to the little nephews and
nieces for they dearly loved him.
He leaves a mother and father and
two sisters and one brother.
Written by his heartbroken brother
and wife.

YOUR BANK AND MINE
1. The Bank and the Community
By Gordon Lewis
The extent 4o which the hanker Is
an intimate part of the life of his com
munity was vividly set forth by a
country banker recently. “The count
ry banker,” he said, “is the custodian
of the family documents and often
oi their secrets. He must keep infor
med of the market trend of hogs,
chickens, cotton, vegetables and other
products of the soil. If there is a
change in freight rates, he should
know what net effect it will have on
the residents of his community. He
should know how much per acre one
'should pay, and how much one can
safely expend in money and labor on
a given farm with fair promise of re
turn. He ought to know when crops
should be planted and harvested. He
must know that the foot-and-mouth
disease or bollweevil can attack his
bank just as relentlessly as it can a
cow or cotton, and he is usually one
of the first to subscribe funds in any
community emergency.

These things are expected of the
country banker because as the Clear
ing House or medium through which
most of the community's income Is
received and its expenditures spent,
he has the advantages of being in in
timate contact with the whole econo
mic scheme of things. He knows that
people are largely independent,
that one who has money to loan can
not profit thereby unless someone
else can use that money In actual pro
duction, whether it be by production
of a crop, manufactured goods or a
house. Since the bank is the logical
place for idle funds, the lender goes
there to deposit, for the same reason
that the borrower goes here to borrow
The banker sees to it, through dis
cretion in his loans, that funds find
productive employment, reacting to
the benefit of the borrower, of the
lender, of himself and the community
as a whole.”
