Roanoke
Well we will start this piece by
asking what is the Church, and is it
worth to us, and what did it cost the
Father to set it up here in this world
it cost the Father to give his son to
come to this earth and suffer and
bleed and die, to churches it then
ought not we love it, when Jesus
gave his life for it. O may we stop
and consider what the church really
means to us and how could we live
without the church. Now we all know
that if we had no churches in this
country we would soon be in heather
ism, then why don’t we love the
church more than we do, if we know
what is good and right, why not
choose the right and reject the
wrong, don’t the Good Book tell us
if we know how to do good and doeth
it not to such It is sin, then what
does the way that some of our
church members show to the world
by their lives that they are living
instead of going to the church on
their regular meeting days, they will
go some where else, does that prove
to the world that we love the church
or does it prove to the world that we
love the things of the world more
than we love the church, you judge
for yourselves. Now just think what
those that do not love the church is
doing to hinder its progress. Now
I will give you some evidence as to
what is going on in this old world.
Just look at what has already been
done over in Russia. A five-year
Anti Religious War plan at Moscow
wliat is the first thing to do, a syste
matic undermining and destruction of
the influence of the clergy and the un
masking of the mendacity of all chari
ties conducted by the churches. It
aiiJo will be attempted to appoint tree
thinkers day in Europe and America,
now do we see or have we heard <
any thing that this Godless crowd is
trying to do among our people, now
let us see what is going on over there
Former Canadian Premit ■ in a lecture
Saturday night said suffering in Ri
sia at present is the worst ever seen
during times of world peace, what
have they done, he said the tyranny
of Russian Communism had slaugh
tered more than 1,000.000 educa*
persons, sent hundreds of thousands
into exile and treated the bourgeoise
equally as bad farmers who asked on
ly to be allowed to till their soil had
been classed as counter-revolution
aries and exiled or killed he said.
Now where, where is the church over
there, where is their religious liberty,
it is gone and what is the cause, un
belief of the Gospel, are we in any
danger of such, I fear that we are.
Just look around in your own settle
ment, and see how manv there is that
wont go to church or Sunday school,
now’ I want every one to stop and
find out what is a godless man. or
woman, God is in everything that is
good, but he is not in the things that
is evil, you are for God or else you
are against him. we cant serve God
and mamon. Now it is time for us all
to stop and examine ourselves and see
whether we are in the faith or not,
O may our God open our eyes that
we may see where w r e are at before it
is too late, well our pastor failed to
fill his appointments at this place, we
b ope he is not sick, but we filled his
place the best that we could, but we
hope that he will be on hand at our
nevt meeting, we are sorrv to reoort
Miss Ir*ch Hansard real sick, but hone
she will soon he able to he out again.
Also Miss Blanch Wheeler that, has
been sick is doing ve-v we’i. hone she
will soon he out again. Now in con
clusion I will ask ail Christian oennie
t>ot we nrav much to our Cod that he
will restore the jovs of his salvation
hark to us again, that we may teach
tnausgressers tbv wavs, and sinners
will he eouverted and saved by the
grace of God.
As ever your friend in Christ.
