A PRACTICAL DEFINITION
A teacher asked a little boy to spell
the word “responsibility”, which he
did.
“Now, Johnny,” said the teacher,
“can you give me the meaning of that
big word?”
“Yes, muni.’t said Johnny, “if I had
only two buttons on my trousers and
one came off all the responsibility
would hang on the other.”

MISS RUTH MAYFIELD
One month ago on Tuesday evening
about three o'clock, January 10, 1933
Just before the su.i was singing in the
western sky the death angels hovered
around the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H
Mayfield in Forsyth County, their
hearts w-ere made to ache when the
I most beautiful jewel, their precious
darling Ruth was plucked from them.
We realize more fully each day that
Ruth has gone to her heavenly home,
a house not made with hands, never
to return again. There she waits at
the beautiful golden gates beckoning
her family and loved ones. Their
home will never be home sweet home
again for their family circle has been
broken and the vacancy can never be
filled, we cannot understand why Ruth
had to be taken from them as they
needed her so much in their home,
} but God needed her much more than
[ they arid fie saw filto take her from
her suffering and troublesome world.
Heaven was once “somewhere" now
Heaven is where Ruth dwells, and
her going has made it brighter sweet
er and nearer to us than ever before.
Ruth has gone to Yonder City to
abide forever more; to that land of
fadeless fieauty she has reached a
Brighter Shore.
Earth has lost a precious Jewel God’s
own hand was in it all in his wisdom
it hath pleased Him, She was f-eady
! for his call.
Yet, we cannot keep from weeping,
' Tho’ your stay here was not long;
Cold in the grave now you are sleep
ing you have joined the happy throng
[ Ruth is resting, sweetly resting on
his everlasting arm; she is free from
all temptation, safe from all earthly
storm. ""!• Cv-’V
We shall meet in that bright man
sion.
Where sad partings comes no more.
How sw-eet twill be to meet her
On that happy golden shore.
Hqr Aunt Carrie Ivey.

A GOOD gorera’ rule to follow !n
£c tsordng green vegetables is to

salt. Without artificially sweeten
ing the dish, the sugar restores
the garden sweetness which so
many vegetables begin to lose on
their way to the kitchen.
Use needles to pin down the
pleats when pressing a pleated
skirt. The needles will leave no
marks when you remove them.
A few juniper berries, obtainable
at the drug store, placed In a fry
ing pan that has been heated until
very hot, will release aromatic
fumes which will quickly drive the
odor of cooking out of the house.
