BANKHEAD BILL TO
FORCE NEW CROPS.
ATLANTA, March Ist—lmmediate
reduction of the Georgia cotton crop
by GG per cent for 11)34 seemed assur
ed this week through the request of
President Roosevelt that the Bank
head Cotton Reduction Bill he brought
to a vote in the House.
Officials of the IT. S. and State De
partments of Agriculture have already j
begun to map plans for planting of !
new “money” crops in Georgia and the
South to make up for the loss of re
venue to growers of the once-para
mount cotton.
Throughout the South an increase
in the sale of seed and implements
is predicted through the efforts of
former cotton farmers to replace the
crop with anew source of revenue.
New tools and implements will be
necessary if Georgia farmers are to
plant new crops. Sears-Roebuek and
Company has arranged a special
showing of farm tools and implements
rarely seen in the South, and this
feature, together with the Sears
Farmers Market, is arousing much
interest in the Atlanta trade area.
