Mr. L. C. Merritt of Little Rock,
Arkansas was a welcome visitor last
week to his boyhood and native
county.
Mr. Merritt was accompanied by
his wife and her sister, Mrs. Nellie
Richmond.
Mr. R. L. Merritt and wife who
were also visiting home folks enter
tained for Mr. Merritt at a hamburger
and Dutch Supper Friday night and
a barbecue Sunday which was high
ly enjoyed by a few friends and near
friends.
Mr. Merritt is a Forsyth County
boy who has bravely fought his way
to the top and the people here take
great pleasure in extending a cordial
welcome to Mr. Merritt to make
frequent visitts here.

MET APRIL 19th
The 4-H Club County Council met
April 19th in the County Agent’s
office with forty members present.
Miss Violet Gravitt, President, pre
sided
The Council made plans for the
Annual 4-H Achievement Day Pro
gram.
Ducktown 4-H Club was in charge
of the program with their sponsor,
Mrs. Almon Hill. The Council enjoyed
the program very much
The Council wishes to extend their
appreciation to Miss Mary Morman
for leading the songs.
The Council adjourned until May
24. At this meeting the Haw Creek
Club will be in charge of the program

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY DINNER

DAUGHTER SUNDAY
A surprise birthday dinner was
given for Mr. Leo Green who was
celebrating his 58th birthday and his
daughter Miss Sara Green who was
celebrating her 20th birthday at his
home near Sakeray Sunday. About
75 were present including Mrs. T. L.
Collins who has been an invalid for
several years. Everyone had a nice
time.

DEATH NOTICE
FUNERAL AND
Mr. Clyde Norrell, age 51 died at
his home near Mat early Tuesday
morning.
He is survived by his wife, two
sons and two brothers. Funeral ser
vices were held at Zion Hill Baptist
Church Wednesday morning April 23
at 11 o’clock, with Revs. Boling and
Flannigan officiating. Interment in
Church Cemetery. Ingram-Moore Inc.,
funeral directors were in charge.
Mr. James Sweatman, age 84, died
at his home three miles west of Cum
ming Tuesday. Funeral services were
held Wednesday April 23 from Haw
Creek Baptist Church at 2 o’clock
with Revs. Forrest and J. P. Fowler
officiating. Survivors include wife
and several children. Interment in
Church yard. Ingram-Moore Inc., fun
eral directors were in charge.

Postmasters To Meet
In Atlanta In May
ATLANTA, GA.,—The annual state
convention of the National League of
District Postcasters will convene in
Atlanta May 14-15 with headquarters
at the Henry Gradf Hotel.
Mrs. L’Bertie Rushin, of Glennville,
president of the national league has
announced that plans have been made
for one of the most interesting pro
grams this fear ever given by the
Georgia branch. There will be a num
ber of entertaining social features.
Atlanta officials, the manager of the
Henry Grady Hotel and other promi
nent Atlantans have declared they
will make the meeting an enjoyable
occasion for the visitors to the city.
The convention’s program besides
the regular routine business and so
cial affairs will include the following
speakers; Hon. Frank C. Walker,
postmaster general; Hon. Austin Roy
M. North, third assistant postmaster
general; Hon. Harrison Parkman.
