BLACKWELL, Pastor MUSICAL PROGRAM A real treat is in store for us Sun day night when the Orchestra or ganized and directed by Dr. Court ney Brooks and composed by the following: Mrs. Courtney Brooks, Miss Joan Matthews, Miss Virginia Wolfe, Billy Brooks, L. T. Estes, Johnny Wade, Larry Otwell and Roy Otwell Jr. will render several numbers beginning promptly at 8 o’clock. The class will render some special numbers and the entire hour will be given to a well prepared musical program. Music both vocal and instrumen tal are ways God has given us of praising Him. Nothing is more wor shipful to the Lord and wholesome to one’s soul than good music, and how much we do need to have those who are endowed with the talent to use same for the glory of God. So much we hear over the radio is trash and foolish and a lot of it is shamefully sinful and vulgar. Some of the programs under by crooners are lacking in intelligence as well as music and contains noth ing that should appeal to acuitured listening ear. So we are grateful, be yond words to express, to these poung people for organizing this orchestra and being willing to bring it to the Lords House for this pro gram. We hope to have them, or at least a part of the many differ ent instruments, in all of our ser vices. If so they will be making a valuable contribution to the worship services of our church. The public is cordially invited to the service. PROMINENT FORSYTH COUNTY MAN PASSES The many friends of Mr. Heard Hansard were saddened to hear of his death on May 13. There’s another one been added — to the choir in heaven above, He is one we all remember—twas because of his great love. We will miss him here in singings— but we know that up there still, He is shouting praise to Jesus to the glory of his will. The Lord I’m sure invited him, to sing with all the blest He wouldn’t miss it for the world, he’s there to do his best A-mazing grave! how sweet the sound, he’il sing while ages fly— Then one day soon we’ll all go home and dwell with him on high. We’ll make the hallelujah’s roll forever in the sky. So let us not forget him— while on this earth we trod, Remember he’s up there singing for the glory of our God. Altho’ I know we miss him and it’s hard to understand, why the Lord did call dear Egbert to a better promised land But it was, for some good purpose And we know that God knew best So be ready, watching, waiting for the Lord to call us home Then together we’ll be singing songs around the great white throne.
