No. 2 Capitol Square, Atlanta, Ga.,
until 11 A. M. Eastern Standard
time, March 26, 1954, and publicly
opened for furbishing all labor, mat
erial, equipment and other things
necessary for the construction of
5.430 miles of grading and paving
and a bridge at Six Mile Creek lo
cated in Forsyth County on what is
locally known as the Coal Mountain
—Gainesville road, State Route 141.
Beginning at the intersection of
State Route 9 at Coal Mountain, ap
proximately 5 miles north of Cum
ming, and extending toward Gain
esville, otherwise known as Feder
al Aid Secondary Project S 0862 (2)
in Forsyth county. The work will
be let in one contract.

Said work shall begin within ten
(10) days after formal execution of
contract §nd shall be completed
within 300 working days. When con
tract has been executed, written,
notice shall be given the Contractor,
at which time, and not before, work
may be started.
Contract executed pursuant to this
Notice is binding on the State High
way Department, as such. Said con
tract will not create liability, ex
pressed or implied, against the un
dersigned Chairman of the State
Highway Board, as an individual nor
against any employee of the State
Highway Department, in his or her
individual capacity.
The minimum wage to be paid un
der this contract shall be the
amounts set out in thd Labor Pro
visions included in the Proposal. The
attention of bidders is directed to
the Special Provisions covering em
ployment of labor, methods of con
struction, subletting or assigning the
contract and to the use of domestic
materials.

| they may be inspected free of charge
Copies of the plans may be obtained
upon payment in advance of the
sum of $25.00. Copies of the Gener
al Specifications may be obtained
upon payment in advance of the sum
of $3.00, which sums will not be re
funded.
Proposals must be submitted on
regular forms, which will be sup
plied by the undersigned, and may
be obtained by a payment, in ad
vance of $5.00 for each proposal is
sued. When the proposal is submit
ted, it must be accompanied by a
certified check, cashier’s check, ne
gotiable United States Bonds, or
other acceptable security in the
amount of $7500.00, and must be
plainly marked “Proposal for Road
Construction,’ County and Number,
and show the time of opening as ad
vertised. Check of the low bidder
will be cashed and all other checks
will be returned as soon as the con
tract is awarded, unless it is deemed
advisable by the State Highway De
partment to hold one or more
checks. If an unusual condition aris
es, the State Highway Department
reserves the right to cash all checks.
Bidders Bond will not be accepted.
Bond will be required of the suc
cessful bidder as required by law.
Contracts will not be awarded to
contractors who have not been plac
ed on the list of qualified Contract
ors prior to the date of award. No
proposal will be issued to any bidder
later than 9 A. M. Eastern Standard
Time of the date of opening bids.
All bids must show totals for each
item and total amount of bid. Right
is reserved in the undersigned to de
lay the award of the contract for a
period not to exceed thirty 30) days
from the date of opening bids, dur
ing which period bids shall remain
open and not subject to withdrawal.
Right is also reserved in the under
signed to reject any and all bids and
to waive all formalities.
Upon compliance with the require
ments of the Standard Specifications
Ninety (90) percent of the amount
of work done in any calendar month
wHI be paid for by the 25th. day of
the succeeding month, provided that
payrolls have been submitted as re
quired and the remainder within
thirty (30) days after the Final
Statement is approved by the Engi
neer.
