THE GLUTTON IS NOT GLUTTONOUS
The Arctic animal known in North America a* the wolverine, is known
as tthe glutton In Great Britain. It is a carnivorous animal of tthe weasel
family; its reputation of being an excessive eater is false. .1. —“Uncom-

Toy makers report they cannot get by with faulty imitations of
automobiles, trucks, tractors and trailers with the present generation
of small fry. ,
As a result, manufacturers of these miniature units, popular as
Christmas gifts, are going the limit in making their small models
realistic, down to the last detail. g- i
* Shown here is a typical example. This youngster is getting a real
thrill out of his replica of a modern tractor-truck and semi-trailer.l
The semi-trailer is an aluminum reproduction, to exact scale, of,
Fruehaufs latest model "Road-Star” which features light weight*
construction along airplane lines as well as extreme sturdiness. This 1
same sturdiness, according to the toy manufacturer, Miller-Ironson of
California, will enable the model to withstand the rugged usage to
which youngsters subject this type of plaything.

Sparking the "Do It Yourself’ products that arc sw p.iv: t '.e c. ir./rv
and proving so popular with homemakers are the easy to app.. , quick
drying, interior paints based on synthetic latex, a notable development
of the chemical industry. w '
Homemakers are finding that even the rankest amateur can do a good
job with these paints as they’re easy to apply with either brush or roller.
Brush or lap marks do not show, so if you miss a spot just go back and
fill it in. ....
The latex paints dry to the touch in a matter of minutes, doing away
with the general household upheaval formerly associated with a home
decorating job. And no longer do you have to "air" the rooms— there is
no painty odor. Therefore, redecorating can be done comfortably in any
weather. . , . , . . ,
Any drip spots on floor or woodwork can be simply wiped up with a
damp cloth. Brush or roller are quickly washed clean when you're
through painting for the day. When thoroughly dry, the satiny finish
can be scrubbed repeatedly with soap and water. Crayon, pencil or ink
marks, grease, catsup, mustard —any common stain—simply won’t fare
the tough latex film. . ~, , .
< Considering thut labor represents a major percentage of the cost of
any paint job, it is no wonder that these latex paints are turning the
whole family into “Do It Yourself" fans.
