O come, let us worship and bow
down: let us kneel before the Lord
our maker. Psalm 95: 6
1 he choice we were urged to make
in tne iunuay bcuuoi xesson iasi
Sunday was, io worsuip omy me
true uod. £.ven thougn we don i
have linages such as me goiden cat
ves to worship we nave to watun
ourselves, ao a tot ox praying and
stay close to God lest we let world
ly goods or other things come be
tween us and God. People fail short
and commit great sins when they
-fall into too much worldly pleasure
and thinK more of that tnan tthey
do of true worship.
As this is Christian Home Week
leading up to Mother’s Day next
Sundiay, L do hope all families will
check up and see how our homes
are measuring up as Christian
Homes. Would we be embarrassed
or happy for Jesus to step into our
-home at any time? He should be
there as the Head of the home at
all times and we should think of
this and try to have our home af
fairs in harmony with His will.
Rev. Nalley’s sermon on Sunday
morning was on the. familiar story
of Zacchaeus from Luke 19: 1-10.
As we know Zacchaeus was a great
sinner but very small in stature:
but he had a desire to see Jesus and
made the effort by climbing into the
sycamore tree. Jesus blessed Zacch
aeus’ home by His visit and his life
by saving him from his sins. We get
our greatest blessings when we feel
the least and seek Jesus in our hum
bleness. He will come into our hearts
and homes when we feel our need
of Him.
All the B. T. U. lessons on Sunday
night were based on the home life,
then Rev. Nalley concluded the day
services' with a beautiful sermon on
the same subject “The Home”.
The first important thing about
a home is, keeping the faith at the
marriage altar. Courtship should be
a sacred thing. Boys and girls
should be very careful to choose
good, clean Christian mates and in
clude Christ in their courtship, mar
riage and the building of a Christian
home. No matter how poor the build
ing or the furnishings of a home, if
Christ is there, it is a rich home.
Let us ttake our theme for May:
“Keeping the Faitth in our Homes”,
the scripture: “All thy children
shall be taught of the Lord; and
great shall be the peace of thy child
ren,” (Isaiah 54: 13) with the airm:
“Faithfulness in nHome Life”,
try to have homes that will give us
at least the taste of the one that is
being prepared for us in that great
beyond.
We were very pleased to welcome
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hall of Hia
wassee in our Community during
the weekend and at the Church ser
vices on Sunday. They are very ac
tive church workers and blessings
to the lives of all who know them.
Mrs. Hall will be remembered as
Miss Isobell Denton who taught
school here several years and gave
ns a lot of help and encouragement
in our early Christian work, both in
school and church.
Mr. William Orr was also a wel
come visitor on Sunday night. We
are alwways glad to have all visitors
in our services.
During May, w£ are beginning
our Sunday School at 9:00 o’clock
so that some might visit other
churches for Communion Services.
We would like to extend an invitat
ion toall sister churches to Com
mune with us on the fourth Sunday i
in this month.
We still want to prayfor the sick
and shut-ins of our community, in
cluding a very faithful member of
many years, Mr W T. Bagley.
Lawyers sometimes confuse shrewd legal man
euvers with integrity and basic honesty. The two
are quite different.
The usual wave of apple polishing is now being
exhibited by those who seek to be “in" with candi
dates seeking public office.
