NOTES & COMMENT
No one has seen or heard from Hitler lately,
as far as we have observed.
There seems to be a scarcity of sea monsters
and flying saucers these days.
Why is it most people think they must say
something when they have nothing to' say?
Cute young things have an attraction all their
own-which they understand at an early age.
If you start work, you will be tired sooner
than otherwise, if you actually work, that is.
A government must be judged by the welfare
of the average citizen, who is willing to work.
In a few short days the political oratory from
Capitol Hill will be starting up all over again.
We hope the NCAA sees fit to liberalize its
code on football television at its January meet
ing.
The astronomers, we predict, will soon find
out once again that the universe is larger than
they had suspected.
We are expecting to see a new car soon which
will have enough power to go through buildings,
in an emergency.
Another death after a boxing match should
convince a few more people that headguards
are the thing of the future.
A lot of housewives are suffering from arm
conditions as a result of the custom of sending
every acquaintance a card each Christmas.
The prosperity of this country depends, to a
large extent, on the prosperity of the nation’s
farmers. Washington must keep that in mind.
Mr. Eisenhower says he does not engage in
personal vituperation, which is a good thing for
the President of the United States to say.
Competion is the key to success of the com
petitive system but some business men would
endanger that free enterprise system by seeking
monopoly.
Those citizens who took none of the risks in
defending their country in foreign wars should
not be too critical of veterans and veteran’s or
ganizations.
So long as the average citizen lets the posses
sion of considerable money determine a person’s
importance, the cuntry will have crooks, rackets
and gangsters.
The idea of democracy is that men and wom
en have enough sense to govern themselves, not
perfectly, but as well as any group who would
do it for them, and this shuld be kept in mind by
federal employes.
