AVERAGE GEORGIA YIELDS
J. R. Johnson, Agricultural Ex
tension Service agronomist, reports
that last year's average yields per
acre in Georgia were: cotton, 285
pounds; tobacco, 1,171' pounds; pea
nuts, 600 pounds; corn, ten and
one-half bushels; wheat, 18 bush
els; oats, 31 bushels, and hay, a
little more than one-half ton. These
yields were lower than usual due
to the drought, Johnson added.
EGG SIZES AND PRICES
According to U. S. standards,
extra large eggs must weigh at
least 27 ounces, large eggs 24, med
ium sized eggs 21 and small eggs
18 ounces. If the price difference
between medium and large .eggs is
more than eight cents, the smaller
size egg will give the most for
your money, but if the price dif
ference is less than eight cents,
the larger eggs are more econo
mical.
Where grass walks are used in
the garden, the grass should be
mulched during January, but not
as heavily as garden plants
