HOW BAPTISTS WORK
TOGETHER
(Cooperative Program)
By James W. Merritt
Scripture Heading
I Corinthians 8:9; Matthew 28:
8-20; Acts I: 8
THE POINT OF BEGINNING
The spirit of cooperation is born
and maintained in the fellowship
of individual churches where team
work and loyalty are essential to
success in all departments. Baptists
work together In tfieir churches as
spiritual democracies, where plans,
policies and procedures are decided
by each individual church in con
ference, where all members, young
and old alike, have a voice and a
vote, and where questions and is
sues are settled by a majority.
A church authorizes, controls
directs the work of its departments
and auxiliaries and elects or ap
proves the election of those who
serve in these groups. The depart
ments and auxiliaries, as well as
committees, special and standing,
report regularly to the chufch in
conference. The • deacons and fin
ance committee have opportunity
to render large service as servants
of the church and their recom
mendations and activities are also
subject to the approval of the
church in conference. Successful
operation of the financial affairs of
a church requires a program of
stewardship and promotion, the
adoption of a worthy budget, the
use of the Every Member Canvass,
and the enrollment of tithers. If
the work of the churches and the
program of the denomination are
to be adequately supported, mem
bers must learn to work together
In providing financial support.

like to give this grass a trial.
Tests show thaftt ladino clover
with fescue produces two to three
times more dry matter and more
protein per acre than fescue will
produce alone. This emphasizes the
importance to Forsyth county farm
ers of re-establishing ladino clover
in pastures where it disappeared
as a result of recent drought.
Top dressing pastures with com
plete fertilizers will help them
make a quick comeback from
drought or over grazing.
When farmers are grazing on a
rotational system it might pay to
apply a complete fertilizer in the
spring to one section of the pas
ture, fertilizing another section of
the pasture in midsummer and
perhaps fertilizing another section
in early fall.

Here’s

FORD excels
cars in
higher-price
brackets!
Looking for more value from your motor car
dollars? Then, look no more. Ford brings you a wealth
of fine-car features that even some of the higher-priced
cars can’t match.
For example, the chart above shows that in feature
after feature Ford gives you everything you have come
to expect in a medium-priced car . . . and more. Yet,
a Ford Fairlane Town Sedan costs* you less than the
lowest-priced comparably equipped 4-door sedan of
four popular medium-priced makes.
And, with Ford recognized as the style leader . . .
"at home” wherever you may go . . . why pay more?
Feature for feature . . . price for price . . . you can’t
buy better than Ford.
