December 10. It is very gratifying
said Mr. Otwell to know that his
Chief Sawnee Sausage won top
honors at this contest, where more
than 800 businessmen, church lead
ers and professional men were the
judges at .* 7 O’clock Breakfast.

On Thursday night December 8,
the Cumming Garden Club had its
annual Christmas party.
The ladies entertained their hus
bands with a covered dish supper
at the home of Mrs. Roy Otwell.
The inside and outside of the home
was artistically decorated in the
Christmas motif.
(After the delicious meal, Rev.
and Mrs. Harold Zwald gave inter
esting talks on ‘‘A Better Christ
mas” and the history of some of
the Christmas Hymns. A duet, Sil
ent Night, was rendered by Miss
Bette Anne More and Mrs.
The group joined in the singing of
Carols.
The members exchanged gifts
with the help of Santa Claus who
came for a visit.
The party was enjoyed by all.
Thanks to the work and planning
of the social committee, Mrs. Roy
-Otwell, Mrs. Harris Moore and
Mrs. Weslgy Hawkins.

Mrs. Grover C. McGinnis enter
tained Thursday evening December
Bth, with a miscellaneous shower
honoring Miss Janis Marie Sexton,
bride-elect of Mr. William Harley
Thomas. Pink and White, the
bride’s chosen colors, were used in
the decorations.
On one corner of the dining
table, which was covered with a
pink satin damask cloth, was placed
a miniature white alter with tiny
lighted candles flanked by pink
and white flowers. Through the
•center of the table was a white
satin aisle cloth and four beautiful
bridesmaids and the lovely bride
marched toward the alter. Another
corner of the table held double
hearts of pink and white carrying
the names of the betrothed couple
in gold letters.
Punch was served from an anti
que punch bowl by Mrs. Ray Sex
ton, sister-in-law of the bride.
Little Miss Nita Ray Sexton,
neice of the bride, in the role of
cupid, wheeled the gifts into the
room in a pink and white decorat
ed wheelbarrow.
About fifty guests were invited.
Mrs. McGinnis was assisted in
serving by Mrs. Glen Sexton, moth
'er of the bride.
CUMMING METHODIST CHURCH
TO PRESENT “THE GREAT
LIGHT” DECEMBER 18.
On Sunday evening December 18
the Methodist Church will present
“The Great Light”, a Christmas
candlelighting service. The pro
gram begins at 7:30.
A special offering to go toward
Mission work will be included on
the pprogram. The Pastor, Mr.
John Ozley, and the congregation
join in cordially inviting the public
•to be with us for our Christmas
worship.

CELEBRATES GOLDEN WED
DING ANNIVERSARY, DEC. 11.
' Mr. and Mrs. Silas Pruitt of
Cumming Route 3, celebrated their
Golden Wedding Anniversary on
December 11, 1955.
Mrs. Pruitt was formerly Miss
Ida Hawkins,, daughter of Mr.? and
Mrs. F. L. Hawkins of Forsyth
County.
Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt are still en
joying life and they hope to have
many more years of happy mar
ried life together.
SENIORS TO PRESENT
PAGEANT DECEMBER 23
The Forsyth County High Sen
ior Class will present "O Come All
Ye Faithful”, a Christmas pageant
on December 23, at 7:30 p. m. It
will be put on in the auditorium of
Forsyth County High School. There
will be a cast of over one hundred
and fifty people with five choruses
included. The cast includes Mary
Helen Mashbum, who represents
every little girl of 8 to 11 years of
age; Betty Taylor as the Mother,
Robert Charles as Ezra, a shepherd
Jerry Orr'as Simeon, a shepherd;
Mickey Sutton as Josias, a shep
herd; Brice Ray, Johnny Pirkle,
and Larry Waters as Gaspar, Bal
thazar. and Melchoir, respectfully;
Carrell Pruitt as an innkeeper;
'Benson Fowler as a boy; Dottie
Cantwell as Martha; Donald Glov
es as Julius, a Roman soldier;
Herschell Fuller and Glendal Stone
as Roman soldiers; Maston Holtz
claw as Joseph; Rebecca Martin as
Mary; and Rounette Martin and
Barbara Brooks as the angels. Car
olyn Thomas and Annette Vaughan
will be the announcers with Joyce
Ingram and Jane Otwell serving
as pianists.

The Cumming Garden Club Coun
cil is sponsoring the home lighting
and decorating contest again this
year. It will be judged by quali
fied judges and prlizes awarded to
the best decorated homes. First
prize $15.00. Second prize SIO.OO.
and third prize $5.00. The contest
is open to everyone in the city
limits and anyone living outside
the city limits wishing to enter.
Those living out of the city, how
ever, must notify one of the coun
cil members by mail in order that
the homes be included in the judg
ing. The deadline for notifying the
council is December 15 and judg-'
ing of the decorations will take
place the night of December 20.
The council officers to notify are
Mrs. Marcellas Samples, Mrs. John
Pittard and Mrs. Emory Lipscomb,

The Garden Club Council of Cum
ming is sponsoring the lighting
and decorating of the Courthouse
square for the Christmas season.
Several clubs and organizations
in the town and county are parti
cipating in this program. The Sil
ver City Community Improvement
Club, The Chamber of Commerce,
Veterans of Foreign Wlars, and the
Big Creek Community Improve
ment Club are participating in this
project. The Garden Club Council
wishes to thank these organizat
ions for their splendid help and
cooperation in beautifying our
county courthouse at this season.

the farmers who have requested
ACP cost-sharing on their farm for
1955, that before the cost-sharing
may be earned they must report
their practices as being completed
or substantially completed before
December 31, 1955. If we do not
hear from you by this date it will
become necessary for us to cancel
the practice.
Now is the time for all of you
who are planning to request prac
tices under the 1956 ACP program
to sign an intention sheet to do so.
The sign-up period is from Decem
ber 1, 1955 to January 15, 1956. In
order that your request will be
among the first to be given con
sideration come in now and sign
an intention sheet before the funds
are exhausted.
