It’s good to have a slogan, but it is better to
perform.
Honesty in advertising is the best advertising,
policy.
Planning for the future is the only way to
improve the future
Highway accidents continue to kill Ameri

No product is a success until it is sold. That
is where advertising comes in.
This is the time to mail Christmas parcel
overseas, if they are to arrive on time.
The amazing thing about man’s intelligence
is his failure to use what he has.
The faults of the younger generation stem
from the faults of the older generation.
You have to do a lot of reading and some
thinking to discover the truth about anything.
Most after-dinner addresses represent noth
ing but good practice for the speaker.
The true believer in the merit, or honor sys
tem, will accept nothing that he has not earned.
Hard work and no play is bad, but not nearly
as bad as no hard work and too much play.
The reason some people know so little is
that they don’t want to know anything.
If you expect everybody to agree with you,
it is a sign that you are still immature.
Some of our citizens are so organized that
they haven’t time to mind their own business.
Personally, we have the idea that better farm
ing methods in Forsyth County would be as
good as new factories in town
We know people in Forsyth County who have
acute pains every time they hear that some
other citizen has made a few dollars
Life’s problem: Well people who think they
are sick and sick people who think they are
well.
The more we read the less we know; the
less we think we know, the more educated we

With Your County
Agent
Walter H. Rucker
There probably isn’t a broiler
grower in Forsyth County who
couldn’t tell you within a tenth of
a cent how much hs last batch of
chickens cost to grow per pound.
He knows how much the chicks,
j how much feed they ate and its
j cost, how much medicine was used
land how much his heat bill was.
He knows all these things be-
cause he kept an accurate record.
He had to. Otherwise how would
he have known how much he was
supposed to get when the finished
birds were sold?
I wonder how many farmers we
have in Forsyth County can tell
you how much their corn crop
cost per bushel to grow. Or how
much that bale of cotton cost to
be put on the market. And how
much money does he have in that
calf that is about ready to sell.
A lot of farmers can’t answer
these questions because they don’t
have the records. Records that are
adequate for most farms don’t
cost anything except about five
minutes per day to make entries.
Businessmen pay dearly for this
'work. They wouldn’t think of try
ing to operate without records to
tell them where they have made a
profit or where they haven’t.
Regardless of what we may
I think of it. farming is just as
much of a business as is a grocery
store, hardware store, or a factory.
We expect to make a living from
it or we wouldn’t be there.
And since it is a business, why
do we expect to be successful with
out records? VVe cannot. When all
of us accept this fact, then and
only then can we expect a wider
margin between gross and net
receipts.
NEEDED: BETTER WIRING
Engineer Paul Crawford. Agri
cultural Extension Service, says
if it is necessary to fasten an ex
tension cord permanetly in place,
then you don’t need an extension
cord. Instead, yo need a properly
wired convenience outlet. Exten
sion cords never should be run
across doorways, under rugs, or
tacked to walls.
