Named 1958 state winner in the 4-H Frozen Foods program, she recently returned from an award trip to the National 4-H Club Congress, held in Chicago. The donor of the trip was Whirlpool Corporation. Miss O’Neal’s award-winning demonstration was on "Freezing Broilers." She entered the frozen foods project only two years ago, but has already stocked the family freezer with approximately 193 pounds of fruits and vegetables, and 152 pounds of meat and dairy products. Miss O’Neal is vice-president and leader of Rabun County High School Senior 4-H Club and treas urer of the county council. Young dairy expert Larry Tankersley, 19, of Appling, state winner in the 4-H Dairy program, also attended the congress. His trip was awarded by the Oliver Corporation. Tankersley’s dairy project has grown from a modest beginning to a full-time business. He is now a partner with his father in a Grade A dairy with a herd of 60 cows. He has used his 4-H Club training to improve the herd. Tankersley also won the 1958 state Guernsey award. For the last two years he has been in charge of Columbia County’s 4-H Show herd at the Southeastern Fair. In connection with his dairy project. Tankersley worked on weed control, placing first in the county and district contests and third in the state last year, ac cording to Tommy L. Walton, state 4-H Club leader, Agricul tural Extension Service, Univer sity of Georgia. * ■FOR RENT Several Houses, some i with Chicken Houses MARK | HEARD, JR. Ph: TU. 7 L’.’.U.
