to a busy year
THIS LINEMAN knows there will be no let up in
the construction program of the Georgia Power
Company during 1959. New generating plants,
transmission and distribution lines mean a busy
year ahead.
Everyone is using more electricity, in homes,
businesses, industries and on the farms. To meet
this growing demand, more than SSB million will
be spent this year to expand and improve the elec
trical facilities that serve you. That's an increase
of $6 million over last year’s expenditure.
It will mean a total investment of well over half
a billion dollars since World War 11. A lot of
money, but it makes sure that you have electricity
whenever and wherever you need it.

Perhaps, but wlio'd want to go back to those days of darkness before
Rural Elecrri.’ication? . . . before the founders of the Rural Electric sys
tems, working together with courage and faith in their right as free
Americans to do for themselves, organized the cooperative as the
only way to bring electricity to their farms . . . They borrowed the
money, sure, and it's being paid back, on schedule and with inter
est .. .
The results? . . . just think of life on the farm without Rural Electrifi
cation! *■
