YOUR CAKES are light enough, but how does your
arm feel after a bout with the mixing bowl ?
There’s no reason for “elbow grease” to be a
principal ingredient when a penny’s worth of
electricity runs a food mixer for three hours.
Think of the batter and frosting you can make
for so little cost.
Electric servants take most of the work out of
housework. They wash, iron, cook, sew, clean
and do scores of other chores. They get things
done faster and better, too. And they’re always
there when you want them.
Tut electricity to work at all the hard jobs of
homemaking. I hut s easy on you and your budget.

LP-Gas Tractors at Vz Million Mark
>
Graph shows the rapid growth in production of LP-Gas
powered tractors from 1953 through 1958. In 1953 some 5,000
were manufactured. Factory LP-Gas tractors produced in 1958
totaled 12,000.
record half-million LP-Gas tractors are now operating on
U S. farms, the National LP-Gas Council reports.
That figure represents ten per cent of the total tractors now
'"J™ use an( * " ve times the number originally forecast in
)50. More than 12,000 new LP-Gas tractors were manufactured
and delivered in 1958, and nearly 58,000 units were converted
to liquefied petroleum gas use during the same vear. The increase
TP-Gas farm tractor sales has been steady since 1953 when
slightly over 5,000 were bought.
New users continue to report satisfaction with fuel cost sav
ings, as well as greater operating economies. The fuel’s high
octane rating and slow burning characteristics provide additional
horsepower, a fact which makes LP-Gas popular. LP-Gas tractor
operators report fifty per cent reduced engine wear and main
tenance costs, and less frequent engine overhauls. Another fea
ture: LP-Gas is economic to store. Large farm bulk tanks provide
fuel for many household uses—including heating, automatic
water heating, clothes drying, refrigeration, and incineration—
as well as for tractors.
LP-Gas motor fuel sales for farm tractors jumped 5% in 1958
over the previous year. Industry-wide, sales of liquefied petro
leum gas jn 1958 increased by 9.4% to an estimated, 7,591,400 000
gallons the Council said. LP-Gas sales for domestic and com
mercial uses are estimated at 3,534,300.000 gallons, a 15.2%
increase over 1957. Sales of motor fuel were up 16,200 000 gsj
lons or 2% over 1957 to 821,200.000 gallons. This equals 10.8%
o. total sales, indicating that the growth in the motor fuel ma--
1 * has ke P‘ Pace with the growth of the industry.
