Cumming, Georgia. Ad men back plan on highway signs. Soil Conservation District News JAMES T COOTS SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE Elder Hering south of Cumming recently nitrated his fescue seed and pasture field as a maintenance measure. H. L. Wills near Midway has applied nitrogen to his pastures. Many other cooperators throughout the county have applied chicken compost or ammonium nitrate to their pastures. Bill Bennett has been improving a nine acre stand of pines by prop er thinning. The trees taken out have been sold as pulpwood. By taking out the right number of trees the remaining ones will have more head room for sun light, more root room for taking in moisture and plant food thus mak ing for better tree growth. Critical Areas on the Hoyt Mar tin farm have been planted to loblolly pine seedlings. Approxi mately fifteen acres were planted. Do you have a land capability map for your farm?
