Getting along amicably in life is largely a
problem of getting along with people just about
as good as you are.
We are often mystified by television and
movie dialogues which lead no where with a
great flourish.

BULK OF FARM OPERATING
LOANS USED FOR EQUIP
MENT AND LIVESTOCK
Approximately 50 percent of the
nroductio nand subsistence loans'
obtained by farmers from the Law
renceville officers of the Farmers
Home Administration during the
1958-59 fiscal year were used to
purchase equipment, livestock and
make similar investments in local
farms.
Local farmers are making these
investments to set up the kind of
farming systtems that will make
file most of their labor, land and
oher resources.
Production and subsistence loans
are also made for fertilizer, seed,
tractor fuel, insecticides and other
farm and home operating expenses.
The loans bear 5 percent interest
and repayments are scheduled in
accordance with the borrowers’
ability to repay. The loans for crop
production are repayable when in
come from the crop is received.
Loans for capital investments are
repayable over periods up to 7
vears.
Several steps are taken by the
FHA to assist farmers in making
the best use of their loans. Before
a loan is made a complete farm
and home plan is prepared by the
farm family with the ssistance of
the agency’s local supervisor. The
plan shows how the farm will be
operated, estimated yields and in
-ome and a budget for farm and
home expenses.
Provision is made for the pro
duction of a large portions of the
family’s food supply and provision
is made in the budget for house
hold expenditures and medical care
No loan is made unless the farm
and home plan shows that the
farm when properly operated un
der normal conditions will produce
an income that will provide the
family a good living and enable
them to repay their debts.
For normal, healthy person who
is receiving a well-balanced diet, it
usually is not necessarry to take
vitamin pills, says Miss Lucile Hig

cultural Extension Service.

LET'S GO! It's that time of year again. Everybody getting
set for well earned vacations! Whatever you plan to do,
here’s something to help smooth out any kinks in vacati:-n
plans. Long Distance. For instance, why not phone anearf
to make sure of accommodations? No fun to be on the
road watching the "no vacancy" signs roll by! Then, too,
calling 'ahead to plan get-togethers with old friends is a
lot of fun. And. naturally, you'll want to check in with
the office or possibly home to make sure everythings OK.
while you’re gone. For all this help to make a vacation
happier, you pay very little. Remember. Long Distance
costs less when you call station-to-station with extra bar
gains after 6 P.M. and on Sundays.

HINT FOR A H APPY ENDING. If you’re like me. you're
already making plans for a big Fourth of July. But all too
often the fifth of July isn’t such a happy day. So Id like
to put in my two cents worth about safety during this big
holiday weekend Play it safe . . swimming, boating, or
driving along the highway And here’s a thoughtful thing
to do ... call friends or family by Long Distance to let
them know you got there safely. It means so much to
keep in touch ... particularly on the Fourth.
