ORGAN OF FORSYTH COUNTY and city of cumming ALWAYS TRY TO BUY AT HOME It is about time for the NEWS to again re mind the people of this county that local mer chants deserve a chance to supply their needs. Whenever you have anything to buy, give local business houses an opportunity to serve you. The future prosperity of all of us depends upon a willingness to cooperate in the common good, and one way to do this is to patronize home concerns whenever possible. We do not urge any person to pay an exorbi tant price for any goods. It is the business of selers to meet competition. They mst do this if they expect to stay in business. It is their obli gation if they desire the patronage of local customers. YOU CAN DO YOUR PART Every citizen of CUMMING can make a con tribution to democratic government. It is not by abusing Soviet Russia, the Com munist Party, or Nikita Khrushchev. It is not by urg>ig a war against the Communit ideology or the Russian people. AJI that any person here has to do to make a fight on dictatorship, or Communism, is to see that democracy workks in our own local, state and national governments. When there is a deviation from the accepted principles of democracy in the government of CUMMING or FORSYTH COUNTY, or any other unit of American government, it can be scored a sa gain for the isms that we say we abhor. EXIT 1959 CARS The major automobile companies are now scheduled out of production their 1959 models. Some 1959 cars will have gone entirely out of production by the twentieth, others will be phas ed out entirely by the end o fthe month, and some will be produced into August. By the last week in August all 1959’s o f the major com panies will be out of production. Significantly, all seventeen of the industry’s auto makkers will be turning out 1960 models by September 18th. Last year it was October before this switch was in progress among all the maker's. The automobile industry has enjoyed a better year during the past twelve months than in the preceding year. In fact, business appeared grim just sixteen months ago, and now is taking on brighter prospects. The major companies are coming out with new, small cars this fall and the larger models are expected to sell well for the next six months at least, based on business pros pects. This is important to the country as a whole, for the automobile industry consumes so much steel and affects so many related industries and businesses and people that it is a major con-1 sideration in the ntaional economy. Assuming! that a prolonged steel strike can be avoided, the 1 automobile industry appears headed for a good year, and that will help make business good for j the entire country. It would be much nearer the truth to say that Christianity is the teach ings of Christ (a historic person) as he reveals God to us. Christians are those who follow Christ, who trust him as their personal Saviour and Lord— just as a little child has complete confidence in ths earthly father (who is imperfect) so we must have perfect confidence in God's Son as he reveals out heavenly father to us. Christianity is not of belief in— an abstract system of thought—but complete trust and confidence in the person and work of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, and our Saviour. This is the reason for the abso lute necessity of knowing the Bible —an earnest prayerful study of the Bible, in order to know the life of Christ and his teachings and the interpretation of Christ and histeeachings tv the Biblical writ ers. Not only that, but the Bible is the story of God’s dealings with mankind from the time of creation until New Testament times. “In the fullness of time God sent his Son into the world.” Rom 8:3 "God sending his own son in likeness of flesh.” Rom. 5:10- “were rpeon | riled to God by the death of his Son.” j Your Christianity is a personal j matter with the personal God but we owe inescapable obligations to our fellowmen to represent Christ in our daily lives in every way possible. Give your testimony for Christ! “No man liveth to himself and no man dieth f o himself.” W. R.
