FOR MEMBER OF BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS OF
ROADS & REVENUES
I hereby announce as a candi
date for a Member of the Board of
Commissioners of Forsyth County,
subject to the rules and regulations
of the Democratic Primary to be
held March 16, 1960.
As I will not be able to see each
of you during this campaign, I
would like to take this opportunity
to tell you of my platform, and
what I stand . for.
Recovering of One-half to One
Million dollars from the U. S.
The Forsvth County News
Government on our Lake Roads.
It appears to me that our Com
missioners either went to sleep or
did not know the cost of road
building, or failed to make a sur
vey of the roads involved, or just
did not care. In short it seems that
the people of Forsyth County have
been taken to the cleaners and
sold down the river, now since our
Commissioners have already settled
with the Government for the small
sum of approximately $100,000.00
and we can not reopen this case
in Gainesville, we will have to go
direct to the Courts of Claims in
Washington, D. C., and prove to
said Courts that the County Com
r\ssioners and the U. S. Engineers
did error In law in settling for
this small figure. I have talked
with two Law firms and each of
them agree to take this case on a
small percentage at no cost to
the County or any one.
I think we should maintain our
roads first, then if we have the
time and money we should build
'new roads where they are needed
\ most. I do not think the County
should compete with the Contract
| ors on our new roads, which comes
under the Rurual Road Authority
and are let to competitive bids. In
I our book of the Laws of Georgia,
Act of the Senate and House of
Representatives in setting up our
; Board of Commissioners of Roads
! and Revenues, it plainly states that
no Commissioner shall enter into a
contract with said County, there
fore making it against the law to
be employed bv said County, any
one violating this law, in my mind
is subject to impeachment, for
you cannot hire yourself, Act of
1943.
Keep our machinery off private
property, do no work for private
individuals for personal gain.
Raise all County employees sal
ary up to a living wage.
Do what we can for better
schools and buildings.
I think we should lower our Tax
es on the small Home owners and
Raise the large property owners in
proportion with the small ones.
I have 25 years of grading and
road building exnerienee, I have
worked with leading Construction
Companies of the South. I also ser
ved with the Combat Engineers in
World War 11.
I am the Father of 8 children,
5 boys and three girls. I am 51
years of age. I came here in 1951
to work on the Buford Dam, and
after it was finished I decided to
go into the Real-estate business
and make this mv home.
If the people of Forsyth County
see fit to honor me with this
offiee I will do mv best to make
this County one to be nroud of. I
will carry out and fulfill every
pledge in my platform or I will
go down Swinging.
Thanking you in advance.

for this office and I will do all in
my power to improve all dirt roads
and to get paved roads as fast as
possible.
j I have had some experience in
buying and operating machinery.
Our county is growing fast, and
there will be some very important
problems to be handled by this
Board in the next few years that
will greatly affect the future of
our county.

person, party or faction. Will act
at all times towards improvement
and future of our county and our
people.
I believe in co-operating with not

FOR MEMBER OF BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS OF
ROADS & REVENUES
I hereby announce myself as a
candidate for a Member of the
B-oard of Commissioners of Forsyth
County, Georgia, subject to the
rules and regulations of the Demo
cratic Primary to be held March
16. 1960.
I wish to thank each of you for
your vote and influence in the past
and the confidence you have placed
in me, and I assure you that I
will always do my best to live up
to this trust.
If elected as a Member of the
Board of Commissioners I will
work with and co-operate with the
other men of your choice to make
our county one of the best in this
State.
Since most of you know me, I
am sure that you will agree that I
am not just indebted to one of
several political factions, I am in
debted to all political factions and
that covers the entire county. Yes
I am and will alwavs be grateful
to all the people of this County,
that is why I feel that I can best
serve vou as a Board Member.
I will always work with the other
members of the board to help the
people all over the county and so
long as it is in the interest of all
the people, and I will work against
those who forget what our duties
as Board members are, however,
I feel confident that I can work
with anv of the good men who are
asking to serve you just as I am.
So go to the Polls on the 16.
day of March and vote for and
work for Hill R. Tallant, one man
who is indebted to all the people
and will serve all you to the best
of my ability at all times.
Respectfully vours,
HILL R. TALLANT
FOR MEMBER OF BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS OF
ROADS & REVENUES
I hereby announce as a candi
date for a member of the Board
of Commissioners of Forsyth
County, subject to the rules and
regulations of the Democratic Pri
mary to be held March 16, 1960.
I have lived in Forsyth County
for more than thirty years. For a
number of years I taught in your
schools, have served churches in
almost all sections of the county,
and have served on a number of
Boards especiallv the Welfare
Board for about fifteen years.
I think I understand the tax
burden on the people and the ne
cessity of relieving this as far as
possible by making every tax-dolla"
expenditure buy a dollar’s worth
of service.
If I am honored with this office,
I shall continue to contend for the
high moral and spiritual standards
which the people of Forsyth Coun-
Ity have set in the past.
I believe T can make you a good
member of the Board, and this I
promise: at all times I will try.

electric power
EVERYONE is using more electricity —in
homes, businesses, industries and on the
farms. To meet this growing demand, in
1960 the Georgia Power Company will spend
$54 million—more than $1 million a week—
to expand and improve the electrical
facilities that serve you.
- This year’s construction will include the
beginning of Plant McDonough, a 500,000-
kilowatt, steam-electric generating station
to be built near Atlanta. Work will be
started at mid-year on a 30,000-kilowatt
plant for North Highlands Dam at
Columbus. Other generating projects are
well under way, and hundreds of miles
of power lines will be built.
During the past 10 years the Georgia
Power Company has spent much more than
$423 million in anticipating and meeting your
demands for electric power. That’s a lot of
money, to be sure, but it makes sure
that you have electricity whenever and
wherever you want it.

Rural Electrics were organ

Times have changed, of

Rural Electrics make it pos

higher standards of living
(which means purchases of
millions of dollars worth of

many city folks have farms,

Rural Electrics brought elec
