FCR MEMBER OF BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS OF
ROADS & REVENUES
I hereby announce as a candi
date for a Member of the Board of
Commissioners of Forsyth County,
subject to the rules and regulations
of the Democratic Primary to be
held March 16, 1960.
As I will not be able to see each
of you during this campaign, I
would like to take this opportunity
to tell you of my platform, and
what I stand for.
Recovering of One-half to One
Million dollars from the U. S.
The Forsvth County N -ws
Government on our I.ake Roads.
It appears to me that our Com
missioners either went to sleep or
did not know the cost of road
building, or failed to make a sur
vey of the roads Involved, or just
did not care. In short It seems that
the people of Forsyth County have
been taken to the cleaners and
sold down the river, now since our
.Commissioners have already settled
with the Government for the small
sum of approximately $100,000.00
and we can not reopen this case
in Gainesville, we will have to go
direct to the Courts of Claims in
| Washington, D. C., and prove to
said Courts that the County Com
r\-.sinners and the U. S. Engineers
did error in law in settling for
this small figure. I have talked
with two Law firms and each of
them agree to take this case on a
small percentage at no cost to
the County or any one.
I think we should maintain our
roads first, then if we have the
time and money we should build
new roads whore they are needed
most. I do not think the County \
should compete with the Contract- j
ors on our new roads, which comes
under the Rurual Road Authority
and are let to competitive bids. In
our book of the Laws of Georgia, |
Act of the Senate and House of
Representatives in setting up our j
Board of Commissioners of Roads -
and Revenues, it plainly states that
no Commissioner shall enter into a I
contract with said County, there- I
fore making it against the law to |
be emnloved bv said County, anv
one violating this law, in mv mind
is subject to impeachrrient, for
vou cannot hire yourself, Act of
191.3.
Keep our machinery off private j
property, do no work for private
individuals for personal gain.
Raise all County employees sal
ary up to a living wage.
Do what we can for better '
schools and buildings.
I think we should lower our Tax- j
es on the small Home owners and !
r?n<sn the targe property owners in :
proportion wi:h the small ones.
I have 25 years of grading and ,
road building exnerienee. I have
worked with leading Construction i
Companies of the South. I also sfcr
■*cd with the Combat Engineers in
World War IT.
I am the Father of 8 children,
5 bo vs and throe girls. I am 51
vears of age. I came hem jn 1951
to work on Ihp Buford Dam, and
after it was finished I decided to
go into the Real-estate business
and make this mv home.
Tf the people of Forsyth County
see fit to honor me with this
offiee I will do mv best to make
tins County one to he proud of. I
wilt earry out and fulfill every !
pledge in mv platform or I will
go down Swinging.
Thanking you in advanee.
Sincerely,
