Gov. Powell To Address
Interstate Conterence
In Atlanta
The Honorable Wes’.ey Powell.
Governor of New Hampshire and
Chairman of the Governors’ Con
ference, will deliver the keynote
address to the Interstate Confer
ence of Employment Security
Agencies meeting in Atlanta Oc
tober 1-4, 1961, Georgia Commis
sioner of Labor Ben T. Huiet an
nounced today.
This will be the 25th annual
meeting of the organization, made
up of administrators of the Fed
eral-State Employment Security
Program. They meet to deal with
matters of mutual interest, to ex
change ideas and to discuss admin
istrative questions. The Confer
ence grew out of a meeting of
four New England States in De
cember, 1935, that had just enacted
unemployment compensation laws.
These four states include New
Hampshire, from which the key
note speaker comes. The first meet
ing of the Conference attended by
all the states was in October of
1937. By that time, they had all
passed unemployment compensa
tion laws. This year’s meeting will
get under way Monday morning.
