Track Team Opens Season
The Forsyth County Track
Team opened its 1969 season
recently with meets at Lump
kin County High School and
at Milton High School. The
Bulldogs lost the Lumpkin Co.
meet and were last in the three
team meet at Milton.
The young team did gain some
valuable experience, however,
and are looking forward to fu
ture meets. The Bulldog team
will go to Union County Thurs
day to compete with Union Co.,
North Habersham, and Lump
kin Co. track teams and also
plan to compete in the 8-AA
Regional Track Meet at Win
der on May 15 and 16.
Winder has a brand-new track
made of a modern surface called
grass-tec. More track meets
will be scheduled when (and if)
the Bulldogs are invited to com
pete at other schools.
“When you don’t have a track
or any facilities,” says Coach
Bill Moore, “you have to wait
for other schools to invite you
to compete.”
Even C-class schools such as
Union County and North Haber
sham have tracks, whereas AA-
Class Forsyth County High
does not. Asked what were the
Bulldogs’ chances to win some
of their track meets, Coach
Moore described themas“slim

any facilities for the team to
