A pat on the back and en
couragement for continuedpro
gress—particularly in the fight
against pollution—has been gi
ven the Agricultural Conser
vation Program (ACD) by Ken
neth E. Frick, Administrator of
the Acricultural Stabilization
and Conservation Service
(ASCS), U. S. Department of Ag
riculture.
In Forsyth Councy about 200
farmers participate annually in
ACP, a program in which the
Government shares costs with
farmers for conservations work
needed in the public interest on
agricultural land. Under ACP,
administered locally by the Fo
rsyth County ASC Committee,
conservation measures are in
stalled to help protect soil, wa
ter, woodland and wildlife re
sources.
Forsyth County ASC Commit
tee chairman, C.A. Bagwell,
reporting to ASC county and
community committeemen and
to the farmers who elected them
said Mr. Frick has lauded ACP
as a popular program with a
history of success.

But ASCS Administrator Fri

behind in the kind of conser

to the growing national concern
over water and air pollution and
said the farmer has a major
role to play in pollution abate

Mr. Frick cited the recent
authorization for ACP practices
specifically for pollution abat
