Great Success
Yes Elizabeth, Mary , Jim,
Joe, Lisa, Jane and Tommy,
there is a Santa Claus. He might
not have made it to your house
last year because daddy was
sick and out of work or because
he was in jail or, remember,
that’s when the new baby came.
And it was so hard to justify
buying a bag of candy when
there was no milk in the house.
But this year is going to be
different! Because so many peo
ple have taken an interest in
sharing what they have-people
from th e upper edge of Sil
ver City to the outskirts of
Midway; from Ducktown to Ch
estatee-and have given so gen
erously that it is very likely
there will be a package for each
of you.
Tens of names, ages and sizes
have been compiled from vary
ing sources in an effort to span
the county in making it a very
Merry Christmas for Children
of the County.
Spearheading the drive ann
ually are Forsyth County Jay
cees and this year’s Empty St
ocking Fund has had most gr
atifying success. Through indi
vidual and team efforts, Gar
land Shoemake and his commi
ttee - Bill Barnett, Phil
Bramblett, Bobby Wofford and
Bob Alston-have accumulated
stacks of dolls, toy trucks, mi
ttens, scarves, pants, balls,
socks, grooming aids, tri
cycles, bicycles, wagons, bl
ouses and various and sundry
other items for distributing to
families whose hopes for Ch
ristmas did not exceed their
hope for existence any other
day of the year.
The judges in The Forsyth

Contest had a very hard time
last Friday night trying to de
cide between the winners. Th
ere were 56 entries and so
many of them were extremely
good according to judges Marcia

teacher, Mrs. Helen Brooks,
Home Economics teacher and
Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Mason,
