Christmas is a thousand things ...
As a wondrous starlit night,
The song of carolers in the street,
Or a child's eyes so bright.
Christmas is cold, and warmth,
Forgiveness, and tender smiles;
A handclasp firm, a letter flying
Across the snowy miles ....
A trip back home, an open latch,
Gay ribbons, cards to send,
A candle in a window
That calls a stranger "friend".
The scent of pine on a Christmas tree,
Stockings hanging up,
The tinkle of a bell somewhere,
A coin dropped in a cup.
Christmas is a prayer ....
As angel choirs sing again
A renewed plea, an ancient hope
Foi "peace on eaith, good will to men. "
