BLACKWELL-Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Blackwell of Dahlonega
announce the birth of a son, Daniel Junior, born Dec. 27, 1969
at Forsyth County Hospital. Mrs. Blackwell is the former Violet
Mae Grizzly daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tate Grizzle of Dahlonega.
Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Blackwell of
Cleveland. The baby joins Henry, age 10, Helen, age 9, Linda,
age 8, Evelyn, age 7, Leon, age 5, Ray, age 4, Grady, age 2,
and Marilynn Ann, age 1.
DOBBS-Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lamar Dobbs of Atlanta,
announce the birth of a daughter, Patti Lee, born Dec. 23, 1969
at Forsyt h County Hospital. Mrs. Dobbs is the former Gail
Brannon, daughter of Mr. J.T. Brannon of Alpharetta. Paternal
grandparent is Faustine Dobbs of Woodstock. The baby joins
Charles Marty, Gary Lamar, and Barbara Charlene.
TATE-Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Tate of Buford announce
the birth of a daughter, Angela Pauline, born Dec. 27, 1969
at Forsyth County Hospital. Mrs. Tate is the former Katherine
Florence Mooney, daughter of Mr. an d Mrs. Ed Mooney of
Alpharetta. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs.
Luther Tate. The baby joins Florence, age 5, Thomas, age 3,
and Barbara, age 2.
HOLTZCLAW—Mr. and Mrs. George Ray Holtzclaw of Cumming
announce the birth of a daughter, Linda Michelle, born Dec.
25, 1969 at Forsyth County Hospital. Mrs. Holtzclaw is the former
Sara Wynette Gravitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ford Gravitt
of Cumming. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lester
Holtzclaw of Cumming,
JENNINGS-Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Jennings of Cumming announce
the birth of a daughter, Melissa Jane, born Dec. 24, 1969 at
Forsyth County Hospital. Mrs. Jennings is the former Matha
Raye Sorrells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Sorrells
of Cumming. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. M.E.
Jennings of Cumming. The baby joins Joey, age 11, Keith
age 6, and Tracie, age 4.

The prospect of a new hearing aid brings a smile to the face
of 12-year-old Kenneth Aaron or Chicago, Illinois as he under
goes a test to determine the degree of his hearing loss. The
boy’s hopes of attaining a new hearing aid suffered a setback
when he was struck by a car while selling newspapers to earn
money for the aid. However, officials of Chicago-based Beltone
Electronics Corporation learned of Kenneth’s misfortune and
supplied a new instrument without cost.
Tragedy, Kindness Strike Newsboy
Kenneth Aaron of Chicago, Illinois, a partially deaf youngs
ter, was determined to save enough money to purchase a new
hearing aid, when an accident almost put an end to his plans.
As he had every Sunday morning for almost a year,
Kenneth had gotten out of bed at 4:30 to sell newspapers at a
street corner newsstand near
his home, when suddenly he
was struck by an automobile
and hospitalized. It appeared
that Kenneth might not be
able to earn the additional
money for the new hearing
aid he needed.
When a Chicago newspaper
carried the story of the
youngster’s efforts, and how
the accident had hospitalized

tronics Corporation of Chica
go, world leader in„ hearing
aids, read the newspaper ac
count of Kenneth’s plight, and
immediately offered a new
hearing aid to the boy with
out cost. Upon his release
from the hospital Kenneth
and his mother visited the
Beltone Building where sci
entific tests pinpointed the
boy’s hearing loss degree and
determined which Beltone
hearing aid would best allev
iate the loss.
Kenneth walked out the
proud owner of a new Bel
tone hearing aid, the device
that assures him he won’t
have to face his teen-age
years handicapped by an un
alleviated hearing loss.

Funeral services for Mrs.
John G. (Etta) Barrett, of Cum
ming, age 85, were held Dec.
29, 1969 at Concord Baptist
Church with Rev. JohnLummus
and Rev. Roscoe Simpson off
iciating. Interment was held
in Sawnee View Memorial Ga
rdens.
Mrs. Barrett died Sunday,
Dec. 28, 1969 after a long ill
ness.
Survivors include: two dau
ghters, Mrs. W.P. Freeman
and Mrs. Hoyt Arrington of
Gainesville. One son, Mr. Dean
Barrett o f Cumming; three
grandchildren, Mr. Cecil Mc-
Clure, Mr. Charlie Singleton,
and Mrs. Billy Singleton; ten
great grandchildren; two bro
thers, Mr. E.E. Martin of Cum
ming and Mr. J.W. Martin of
Chamblee. A number of nieces
and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services for Mrs.
Opel Smith, age 37 of Cum
ming, were held Dec. 29, 1969
at Coal Mountain Baptist Ch
urch with Rev. Hoyt Thompson,
Rev. John Lummus and Rev.
Tommy Henderson officiating.
Interment was held in Sawnee
View Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith died Dec. 27,1969
following an extended illness.
Survivors include: husband,
Bobby Smith; daughter, Donna
Leigh Smith; mother, Mrs. Ellie
Gravitt; sister, Mrs. Roy
Heard; brother, Mr. Coy Gr
avitt; father and mother in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Inmon Smith;
brothers-in-law, Mr. Loyd S
mith and Mr. Eddie Smith all of
Route 1, Cumming.

Henry C. (Alice) Westbrooks,
age 83 of Cumming were held
Dec. 26, 1969 at Bethlehem Ba
ptist Church with Rev. Hoyt
Thompson and Rev. Jimmy Gl
over officiating. Interment was
held in church cemetery.
Mrs. Westbrook diedDec.24,
1969 following an extended ill
ness.
Survivors include: husband,
Mr. Henry C. Westbrooks of
Cumming; two daughters, Mrs.
Ethel Holbrooks and Mrs. Era
Brittman both o f Cumming;
a foster son, Mr. Douglas
Westbrooks of Decatur; eight
grandchildren, 20 great grand
children, and one great, great
grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Zeb
Holder, age 77 of Cumming,
were held Dec. 26, 1969 at Zion
Hill Baptist Church with Rev.
Fred Pruitt and Rev. Hoyt Wh
itmire officiating. Interment
was held in Sawnee V lew Mem
orial Gardens.
Mrs. Holder died Dec. 25,
1969 following an extended ill
ness.
Survivors Include: wife, Mrs.
Rosalie B. Holder; two sons,
Mr. Steve Brister of Cumming
and Mr. George Brister of Ball
Ground; one daughter, Mrs.
Dianne Brister of Cumming;
four grandchildren; two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Crisp and Mrs. Za
elie Champion; two brothers,
Mr. Ed Holder and Mr. Charlie
Holder. A number of neices and
nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Stephen
Anderson, age four months of
Cumming were held Dec. 15,
1969 at Zion Hill Baptist Ch
urch with Rev. Hollis Dinsmore
and Rev. C.F. Cain officiating.
Interment was held in the
church cemetery.
Stephen died Dec. 'l4, 1969
following a short illness.
Survivors include: parents,
Billy and Rosaleen Anderson;
one brother, Michae 1 Ander
son; Maternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Blackwell
of Cumming; Paternal grandpa
rents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis An
derson.

Mrs. Bell died Dec. 13, 1969
following an extended illness.
Survivors include: husband,
Mr. L.S. Bell of Cumming;
six daughters, Mrs. Cliff Walls,
Mrs. Paul Martin, Mrs. Lucile
Martin, Mrs. Hubert Martin,
Mrs. Bob Monroe, Mrs. Junior
Gilbert; 39 grandchildren, 55
great grandchildren; a son-in
law, Mr. J.W. Thomas and two
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Tin
sley of Atlanta and Mrs. Minnie
Tinsley of Cumming.

survive.
